Xavier Musketeers Baseball
The Xavier Musketeers baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. The program's first season was in 1974, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Big East Conference since the start of the 2014 season. Its home venue is J. Page Hayden Field, located on Xavier's campus. Billy O'Conner is the team's head coach starting in the 2018 season. The program has appeared in 5 NCAA Tournaments, with the most recent appearance in 2023. It has won four conference tournament championships and 2 regular season conference titles. Greg Christopher
Greg Christopher is the current athletic director for Xavier University. He was previously the athletic director at Bowling Green State University from 2006 to 2013. Christopher was an associate athletic director at Purdue University, joining the department in 1997. Prior to college athletics, Christopher was in the media industry, with NBC, a radio station group and then serving as the executive director for the Society for Professional Journalists. Christopher is a native of West Lafayette, Indiana and graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1984. 2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 2009 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from May 29 through June 24, 2009 and is part of the 2009 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college baseball teams were selected out of an eligible 286 teams on May 25, 2009. Thirty teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and 34 teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. History Of The New York Giants (baseball)
The New York Giants were a Major League Baseball team in the National League that began play in the season as the New York Gothams and became known as the Giants in . They continued as the New York Giants until the team moved to San Francisco, California after the 1957 season, where the team continues its history as the San Francisco Giants. Red Dooin
Charles Sebastian "Red" Dooin (June 12, 1879 – May 12, 1952) was an American professional baseball player and manager. A catcher in Major League Baseball during the first two decades of the 20th century, he played 1,219 of his 1,290 games as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and managed the Phils from 1910 through 1914. Biography Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dooin began his career with the St. Joseph, Missouri club of the Western League in 1900. Two years later, he reached the Phillies and the National League, catching in 84 games. He was the club's regular catcher from 1904 through 1910, and although a broken ankle and a broken leg – suffered in plays at home plate in 1910 and 1911 – curtailed his playing career, he stayed in the majors as a catcher through 1916. Dugout (baseball)
In baseball, the dugout is a team's bench and is located in foul ball, foul territory between home plate and either first or third base. There are two dugouts, one for the home team and one for the visiting team. In general, the dugout is occupied by all players not prescribed to be on the field at that particular time, as well as coaches and other personnel authorized by the league. The players' equipment (baseball glove, gloves, baseball bat, bats, batting helmets, catcher's equipment, etc.) is usually stored in the dugout.
