Marvell Wynne II (born May 8, 1986) is an American former soccer player. He was a starting defender on the Colorado Rapids' 2010 MLS Cup Championship team and the 2008 United States Olympic soccer team, and made several appearances for the U.S. men's national team. Robert Wynne (Virginia Politician)
Robert Wynne (1622–1675) was a Virginia politician and landowner, who had the second longest tenure of any Speaker of the House of Burgesses, having been elected by his fellows during the Colony's "Long Parliament" as well as represented Charles City County from 1658 until his death in 1675 (as Bacon's Rebellion was beginning). Early life Wynne was born in Canterbury, England, being baptized there on December 22, 1622. His grandfather, also Robert Wynne, had been mayor of Canterbury in 1599, and other relatives had served in Parliament. Career After emigrating to the Virginia colony during its tobacco boom as well as military skirmishes with the Dutch, Wynne settled in Charles City County, Virginia by early 1656, though he may have arrived in Virginia earlier during the English Civil Wars. Robert John Wynne (November 18, 1851 – March 11, 1922) was an American who served as United States Postmaster General from 1904 to 1905, and as Consul General at the American embassy in the United Kingdom from 1905 to 1910. Kathleen O'Day Wynne ( ; born May 21, 1953) is a former Canadian politician who served as the 25th premier of Ontario and leader of the Ontario Liberal Party from 2013 to 2018. Greville Wynne
Greville Maynard Wynne (19 March 1919 – 28 February 1990) was a British engineer and businessman recruited by Secret Intelligence Service, MI6 because of his frequent travel to Eastern Europe. He acted as a courier to transport top-secret information to London from the Soviet agent Oleg Penkovsky. Wynne and Penkovsky were both arrested by the KGB in November 1962, when some of the information their endeavours produced was of assistance to the West during the Cuban Missile Crisis. They were convicted of espionage. Penkovsky was executed the following year and Wynne was sentenced to eight years' imprisonment. He was detained at Lubyanka Building, Lubyanka prison. Edward William Wynne Pendarves (6 April 1775 – 26 June 1853) was an English politician. Born Edward William Stackhouse, he was son of John Stackhouse and his wife Susanna Acton. He served as Member of Parliament (MP) for West Cornwall from the creation of the Constituency on 19 December 1832 until the year of his death. He was on the Committee of Management of the South Western Railway in 1836. Edward Wynne (baptised 25 February 1734 – 27 December 1784) was an English lawyer and scholar. Life Wynne was the son of William Wynne, sergeant-at-law, and was baptised at St Clement Danes, London on 25 February 1734. He was admitted as a member of the Middle Temple in 1749 (being called to the bar in 1758). He matriculated at Jesus College, Oxford in 1753, but left the college without taking a degree. His wealth meant that he did not need to work actively as a lawyer. On his father's death in 1765, he inherited the estate of Little Chelsea in Kensington, London; he also owned the manor of Polsew at St Erme, near Truro in Cornwall. On his mother's death in 1779, he inherited property in Somerset. He owned a house in Essex Street, London, as well as property in Dudley and Wales. Edward Wynne (colonial Governor)
Edward Wynne was Proprietary Governor of the Ferryland colony from 1621 to 1626. Born in Wales, he was appointed by Sir George Calvert, (later, first Baron and Lord Baltimore) to establish the colony, and in August 1621, he landed at "Ferryland" with 12 men. By November of that same year, the colonists had completed a large dwelling, and then by Christmas, had added a stone kitchen. In 1622, a second group of colonists led by Daniel Powell was sent to the new English Colony, bringing the population to 32, including seven women. Within a few years, the Colony had housing, a forge, a warehouse, sawmill and wharf.
