World Series Of Darts
The World Series of Darts is a series of darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. Beginning in 2013, the World Series has comprised between two and seven tournaments across the world, where a mixture of the top-ranked PDC players take on local qualifiers in a knockout format. Since 2015, there has been a World Series of Darts Finals tournament held annually, which has taken place in September at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam every year since 2022. History The World Series of Darts commenced in 2013 with the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters, Dubai Duty Free Darts Masters. The goal of these series of tournaments was to make darts more popular across the globe. Professional Darts Corporation
The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is a professional darts organisation in the United Kingdom, established in 1992 when a group of leading players split from the British Darts Organisation (BDO) to form what was initially called the World Darts Council (WDC). Sports promoter Eddie Hearn is the PDC chairman. The PDC developed and holds several competitions, including the annual PDC World Darts Championship, the World Matchplay (darts), World Matchplay, World Grand Prix (darts), World Grand Prix, UK Open, Premier League Darts, Premier League, and Grand Slam of Darts, Grand Slam. 2017 US Darts Masters
The 2017 partypoker US Darts Masters was the inaugural staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation, as a third entry in the 2017 World Series of Darts. The tournament featured eight North American players who faced eight PDC players, which was held at the Tropicana Las Vegas in Las Vegas, United States from 14–15 July 2017. Michael van Gerwen became the champion, defeating Daryl Gurney 8–6 in the final to win his first title in Vegas. Prize money This is how the prize money is divided: Qualifiers Adrian Lewis and Phil Taylor were both originally scheduled to take part but both withdrew. Lewis was replaced by Gerwyn Price, whilst Taylor was replaced by World Number six James Wade. The 2018 bwin World Series of Darts Finals was the fourth staging of the World Series of Darts Finals tournament, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament took place in the Multiversum Schwechat, Vienna, Austria, from 2–4 November 2018. It featured a field of 24 players. Michael van Gerwen was three-time defending champion after defeating Gary Anderson 11-6 in the 2017 final, but lost in the quarter-finals to Raymond van Barneveld 8–10. This ended a 13-match unbeaten streak and 3 year reign as champion. James Wade won his first World Series Finals title. It was his second title in as many weeks after he beat Michael Smith 11–10 in a dramatic final, in which Wade missed two match darts in the penultimate leg and Smith missed five match darts in the final leg.
