World Marathon Cup
The IAAF World Marathon Cup was an international event organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations every two years. From 1997 until 2011 (its final year) it was incorporated with IAAF World Championships in Athletics. The competition is defunct, Daegu 2011 was the last edition. International Association Of Athletics Federations
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation and International Association of Athletics Federations and formerly abbreviated as the IAAF, is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge is the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, certification of athletic facilities, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. Hussein Ahmed Salah (, ) is a Djiboutian former long-distance runner, best known for winning a bronze medal in the marathon at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He also won silver medals in this event at the 1987 and 1991 World Championships. In addition, he won the 1985 IAAF World Marathon Cup. He also came second in the New York Marathon in 1985, and won the Paris Marathon in 1986. His personal best time was 2:07:07, achieved in a 2nd-place finish in the Rotterdam Marathon in April 1988. The 2009 World Marathon Cup was the 13th edition of the World Marathon Cup of athletics and were held in Berlin, Germany, inside of the 2009 World Championships.
