World Grand Prix (snooker)
The World Grand Prix is a professional ranking snooker tournament comprising the top 32 players on the one-year ranking list. After the inaugural 2015 edition was staged as a non-ranking event, the tournament became a ranking tournament the following year; the first two editions were staged at the Venue Cymru in Llandudno, Wales. In 2019, the World Grand Prix became one of three tournaments in the Players Series, together with the Players Championship and the Tour Championship. Held at various venues in England between 2017 and 2024, the tournament moved to Hong Kong in 2025, the first time it was staged outside the United Kingdom. Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump are the most successful players in the event's history, each having won the title three times. Kai Tak Sports Park
Kai Tak Sports Park is a multi-purpose sports venue at the site of the former Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon, Hong Kong, as part of the Kai Tak Development. The sports park is located on the north-western part of the old Kai Tak Airport, where some of the parking stands used to be. With an area of around 28 hectares, Kai Tak Sports Park is the largest sports venue in Hong Kong. The site anchors the redevelopment of the former airport site. 2016–17 Snooker Season
The 2016–17 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 5 May 2016 and 1 May 2017. The number of ranking events was increased in 2016/17, with a target of 20 ranking events for 2017/18. According to the World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn, total prize money for the World Snooker Tour in 2016/17 hit £10 million for the first time ever. The trophy for the Masters (snooker), Masters was renamed the Paul Hunter trophy in perpetuity, in memory of the three-time Masters champion who died in 2006. Preston Guild Hall
Preston Guild Hall is an entertainment venue in Preston, Lancashire, England, which opened in 1973. History The Guild Hall was commissioned to replace the town's Public Hall. The new building, which was designed by Robert Matthew, Johnson Marshall, was due to be ready for the Preston Guild of 1972, but after construction was delayed, it only officially opened in 1973. The complex has two performance venues, the Grand Hall which holds 2,034 people and the Charter Theatre which holds 780 people. There is direct pedestrian access, via footbridge, from the adjacent Preston bus station and car park. Ryan Day (born 23 March 1980) is a Welsh professional snooker player. He is a prolific break-builder, having compiled over 450 century breaks during his career, including four maximum breaks. He is a three-time World Championship quarter-finalist, has been ranked at no. 6 in the world and has won four ranking tournaments. Barry Hawkins
Barry Hawkins (born 23 April 1979) is an English professional snooker player from Ditton, Kent. He turned professional in 1996, but only rose to prominence in the 2004–05 snooker season when he reached the last 16 of the 2004 UK Championship, the quarter-finals of the 2004 British Open (snooker), 2004 British Open and the semi-finals of the 2005 Welsh Open (snooker), 2005 Welsh Open. The 2017 World Grand Prix (officially the 2017 Ladbrokes World Grand Prix) was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place between 6 and 12 February 2017 at the Guild Hall in Preston, England. It was the third staging of the tournament and the thirteenth ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. The tournament was broadcast in the UK on ITV4. Stuart Bingham
Stuart Bingham (born 21 May 1976) is an English professional snooker player who is a former World Champion and Masters winner. Bingham won the 1996 World Amateur Championship but enjoyed little sustained success in the early part of his professional career.
