Winnetou Films
Winnetou is a fictional Native American hero of several novels written in German by Karl May (1842–1912), one of the best-selling German writers of all time with about 200 million copies worldwide, including the ''Winnetou'' trilogy. The character made his debut in the novel ''Old Firehand'' (1875). Stories In May's story, first-person narrator Old Shatterhand encounters the Apache Winnetou, and after initial dramatic events, a true friendship arises between them. On many occasions, they give proof of great fighting skill, but also of compassion for other human beings. Karl May
Karl Friedrich May ( , ; 25 February 1842 – 30 March 1912) was a German author. He is best known for his novels of travels and adventures, set in the American Old West, the Orient, the Middle East, Latin America, China and Germany. He also wrote poetry, a play, and composed music. He was a proficient player of several musical instruments. Many of his works were adapted for film, theatre, audio dramas and comics. Willebrord Jan Frans Maria "Willy" Vandersteen (15 February 1913 – 28 August 1990) was a Belgian creator of comic books. In a career spanning 50 years, he created a large studio and published more than 1,000 comic albums in over 25 series, selling more than 200 million copies worldwide. Walter Neugebauer (sometimes Slavicized as Valter Nojgebauer; 28 March 1921 – 31 May 1992) was a Croatian comic book artist and animator. Neugebauer is considered one of the founders of comics in Croatia, along with Andrija Maurović. Biography Neugebauer debuted his first strip in the Zagreb review ''Oko'' in October 1935. In 1943, Walter and his brother Norbert launched the weekly comic ''Zabavnik'', which was published for two years before being banned by the new communist government in May 1945. In 1945, Neugebauer was creating an illustrated version of ''Brother Jaglenac and Sister Rutvica'' from Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić's ''Croatian Tales of Long Ago'' which was never completed. Alexander Crichlow Barker Jr. (May 8, 1919 – May 11, 1973), known as Lex Barker, was an American film and television actor.
