Waseda University (Japanese: ), abbreviated as or , is a private university, private research university in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Founded in 1882 as the Tōkyō Professional School by Ōkuma Shigenobu, the fifth Prime Minister of Japan, prime minister of Japan, the school was formally renamed Waseda University in 1902. Waseda is organized into 36 departments: 13 undergraduate schools and 23 graduate schools. As of 2023, there are 38,776 undergraduate students and 8,490 graduate students. Waseda-SAT2
Waseda-SAT2 is a Japanese satellite which launched in May 2010. It is a student-built spacecraft, which will be operated by Waseda University, and is intended to be used for Earth observation and technology demonstration. It will test the use of extendible paddles to provide attitude control. The satellite is a single unit CubeSat. The launch was conducted by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries under contract to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. In preparation for a planned launch on 17 May, the H-IIA rocket was rolled out to Pad 1 of the Yoshinobu Launch Complex at the Tanegashima Space Centre on 16 May 2010. It departed the assembly building at 21:01 UTC and arriving at the launch pad 24 minutes later at 21:25 UTC. The terminal countdown began at 11:30 UTC on 17 May and by 15:28, the loading of cryogenic propellant into the rocket's first and second stages had been completed. Waseda El Dorado
Waseda El Dorado, also known as ''Rhythms of Vision'', is a building designed by the Japanese architect Von Jour Caux and built in August, 1983. It is located near the Waseda University campus in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The building design is a mixture of revival Art Nouveau (or Arts and Crafts) and Japanese culture. Its interior features a Buddhist stave's giant hand pointing down from a ceiling of stained glass. The curving wrought-iron balconies take the form of lily pads, and the wrought-iron banister gracefully zigzags past elegant Art Deco stained-glass windows. Tattoo-designs adorn the ceramic figures, green-gold wallpaper is imprinted by Edo period, Edo-style Woodblock printing, woodblocks, and iridescent tiles reflect the art of inlaid mother-of-pearl.
