Battle Cry
A battle cry or war cry is a yell or chant taken up in battle, usually by members of the same combatant group. Battle cries are not necessarily articulate (e.g. "Eulaliaaaa!", "Alala"..), although they often aim to invoke patriotic or religious sentiment. Their purpose is a combination of arousing aggression and esprit de corps on one's own side and causing intimidation on the hostile side. Battle cries are a universal form of display behaviour (i.e., threat display) aiming at competitive advantage, ideally by overstating one's own aggressive potential to a point where the enemy prefers to avoid confrontation altogether and opts to flee. In order to overstate one's potential for aggression, battle cries need to be as loud as possible, and have historically often been amplified by acoustic devices such as Blowing horn, horns, war drum, drums, conches, carnyxes, bagpipes, bugle (instrument), bugles, etc. (see also martial music). WarCry (band)
WarCry is a Spanish power metal band led by founder, singer, and songwriter Víctor García. Formed in 2001 when García and drummer Alberto Ardines were ejected from Avalanch, the band has since released seven studio albums and two live albums, with an eighth studio album currently in progress. WarCry has had a fluctuating lineup with García as the sole constant member. The band has been acclaimed as one of Spain's most famous heavy metal acts and has won numerous awards in both Spain and Latin America. ''WarCry'' is the first full-length album by Spanish power metal band WarCry, released on April 17, 2002 through Avispa Music. Overview While working in Avalanch, singer Víctor García and drummer Alberto Ardines decided to release an album with the songs they had composed in their spare time, as those were not accepted in the band. All the songs dealt mostly with epic stories, immortal warriors, and personal experiences. Both members were later expelled from Avalanch, due to be working on a project behind the band's back. They decided create a band as they already had an "open path". The album was produced by themselves; recorded, mixed, and edited in Jaus Records, with cover and graphic design by Ricardo Menéndez (represented by Rick-Art). Wilbur Addison Smith (9 January 1933 – 13 November 2021) was a Northern Rhodesian-born British-South African novelist specializing in historical fiction about international involvement in Southern Africa across four centuries.
