Walker Family
The Walker family came to prominence via its progenitor, T. B. Walker (Thomas Barlow Walker), a highly successful United States, American businessperson who acquired timber in Minnesota and California and built one of the largest forest products corporations in the nation at the time. He collected art that he made available to the public, and founded the Minneapolis Public Library. He is also the founder and namesake of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) was a Private college, private art school, college of contemporary art in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1871, SFAI was one of the oldest art schools in the United States and the oldest west of the Mississippi River. Approximately 220 undergraduates and 112 graduate students were enrolled in 2021. Oxbow School
The Oxbow School is a private single semester arts school for high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and gap year students located in Napa, California, sitting near an oxbow of the Napa River. High school and gap year students can choose to attend in either the fall or spring semester with visual arts and academic focus. Oxbow also offers a 6-week Summer Art Institute for the same grade levels. The school trains students in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and digital media while still satisfying high school graduation requirements and preparing them for college admittance.
