Walchand group is a business organization that came into existence in the 20th century, founded by industrialist Walchand Hirachand, Walchand Hirachand Doshi. Walchand Hirachand founded several companies, some of which were among the firsts in India in their fields. Walchand Hirachand
Walchand Hirachand Doshi (23 November 1882 – 8 April 1953) was an Indian industrialist and the founder of the Walchand group. Premier Padmini
The Premier Padmini was a four-seat saloon manufactured in India from 1964 to 2001 by Premier Automobiles Limited, a division of the Walchand Group, under licence from Fiat and marketed initially as the ''Fiat 1100 Delight'' — and from 1974 as the ''Premier Padmini''. The Padmini's primary competitors in the Indian market were the Hindustan Ambassador and Standard Herald. This famous car ruled the Indian car market and its popularity peaked during 1970s and 80s. Many celebrities of the time including Rajnikanth, Mammootty, and Aamir Khan, owned a Premier Padmini during its prime years. Known colloquially as the ''Pad'', or ''Fiat'' (since the Padmini was originally a Fiat car), the Padmini is named after a 14th-century Rajput princess. Ratanchand Hirachand
Ratanchand Hirachand Doshi (1902–1981) was a scion of Walchand group, an industrialist, philanthropist, freedom fighter, and Jain social leader. Biography He was son of Hirachand Doshi from his second marriage and was half-brother of Walchand Hirachand, who was born from the first marriage of his father. He was born in Solapur in Maharashtra in a Jain family of Gujarati origin. His other brothers were Gulabchand Hirachand and Lalchand Hirachand. When he grew up he joined his brother, Walchand and served various group companies like The Scindia Steam Navigation Company Ltd., Walchandnagar Industries, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Ravalgaon Sugar, Hindustand Construstion, and Premier Automobiles Limited. Premier Ltd (formerly known as The Premier Automobiles Limited) was an Indian automotive manufacturer company, based in Mumbai.
