Vienna Capitals
Vienna Capitals are an Austrian professional ice hockey club that participate in the Erste Bank Hockey League. Founded in 2001, the Capitals play their home games in Vienna, Austria, at Albert Schultz Eishalle. In the 2004–05 season, the Capitals claimed their first Austrian Championship in defeating EC KAC. History The Vienna Capitals were founded in 2001, after the disbandment of Wiener EV in 2000, to continue the legacy of ice hockey which has been present in the federal capital since 1914. They began competition in the EBEL in the 2001–02 season, under coach Kurt Harand. With good performances, they established themselves in mid-table and finished the end of the regular season in fourth place. In the quarterfinals, the Capitals swept the Graz 99ers 4: 0 before losing in a sweep to EHC Linz in the semifinals. Jim Boni
Giacinto "Jim" Boni (born June 4, 1963) is an Italian-Canadian professional ice hockey coach and executive, convicted of manslaughter. Playing career Born in Frosinone, Italy and raised in Canada, Boni played professionally in Italy and Germany. He won four Italian championships with HC Bolzano in 1982, 1985, 1988 and 1990. Boni spent the last two years of his career at German third-division team EC Ulm, before retiring in 1998. In 1992, Boni struck fellow player Miran Schrott in the chest with the end of a hockey stick, causing Schrott sudden cardiac death. Boni was charged with culpable homicide, but eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and he was ordered to pay restitution to Schrott's family. Coaching and managing career Boni started his career behind the bench at ERC Ingolstadt, where he served as head coach from 1999 to January 2003. Korneuburg
Korneuburg () is a town in Austria. It is located in the state Lower Austria and is the administrative center of the district of Korneuburg. Korneuburg is situated on the left bank of the Danube, opposite the city of Klosterneuburg, and is 12 km northwest of Vienna. It covers an area of 9.71 square km and, , there were 11,032 inhabitants. Korneuburg was originally a bank settlement associated with Klosterneuburg under the name Nivenburg. The 2017–18 Austrian Hockey League season began on 8 September 2017 and ended on 20 April 2018. The defending champion were the Vienna Capitals. The ICE Hockey League (International Central European Hockey League), known as the win2day ICE Hockey League for sponsorship reasons, is a Central European hockey league that also serves as the top-tier ice hockey league in Austria, it currently features additional teams from Hungary, Italy, and Slovenia. The league was known as the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL) from 2003 until 2020 and as the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League during the 2021-22 season. 2011 European Trophy
The 2011 European Trophy was the second European Trophy, a European ice hockey tournament held annually. It was also the sixth tournament since its predecessor, the ''Nordic Trophy'', was launched in 2006. The regulation round began on 11 August 2011 and ended on 6 September 2011. The playoffs, which took place in Austria, were played 16–18 December 2011 in the Eisarena Salzburg in Salzburg, and the Albert Schultz Eishalle in Vienna, at the same time as the 2011 Channel One Cup. The playoff hosts, Red Bull Salzburg, won the playoffs and captured their first championship title in the European Trophy tournament, having lost in the quarterfinals last year.
