Vejen Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in the Region of Southern Denmark on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 817 km2, and has a total population of 42,702 (2025). Its mayor is Frank Schmidt-Hansen, representing the Conservative People's Party.. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). The Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Region of Southern Denmark, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark Region, Central Denmark 19, Region Zealand, Zealand 17 and North Denmark Region, North Denmark 11. 2005 Danish Local Elections
Local elections were held in Denmark on 15 November 2005. 2522 municipal council members were elected in Denmark's 98 municipalities and 205 regional council members in the five regions. Most of these were newly formed municipalities, namely 66 municipalities, that would only begin working from Monday 1 January 2007, as would the newly formed regions, and one municipality, Ærø, which was also part of the reform, which was allowed by the government to commence work for the first time already Sunday 1 January 2006. So the first term of office in ''this'' newly created municipality was the whole period of four years from 2006 until 2009. The Danish People's Party (DPP; , DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The party saw a period of significant growth after its founding and lent its support to the – Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. Nye Borgerlige (NB for short and often translated as the New Right) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. Formed by Pernille Vermund and Peter Seier Christensen in 2015, it first entered the Folketing in 2019 with four seats (out of 179) and again in 2022 with six. After three defections in the first months after the election, by March 2023 the party's number of seats in the Folketing was reduced to three. Having been chairman throughout its existence, Vermund resigned in January 2023. Lars Boje Mathiesen succeeded her in February but was expelled after just 30 days in office. Store Andst
Store Andst is a village in Vejen Municipality of Southern Jylland, Denmark with a population of 805 (1 January 2024). Andst Church (''Andst Kirke'') is the parish church located on a hill in the middle of the village. The large granite square building probably dates from the last decades of the 12th century. In 1592 the tower was built with the peculiar onion spire. It was added to the church by Caspar Markdanner lensman at Koldinghus, at the request of parish priest Jon Jensen Kolding.
