Varde Municipality
Varde Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in the Region of Southern Denmark on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. Its mayor is Mads Sørensen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and site of its municipal council is the town of Varde. It covers an area of 1255.79 km2 with a population of 49,410 (2025). On 1 January 2007 Varde municipality was, as a result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with the existing Blaabjerg, Blåvandshuk, most of Helle (Grimstrup parish, a part of the former Helle Municipality, merged with Esbjerg Municipality), and Ølgod Ølgod is a railway town on the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). The Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Region of Southern Denmark, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark Region, Central Denmark 19, Region Zealand, Zealand 17 and North Denmark Region, North Denmark 11. Oksbøl
Oksbøl is a town in southwestern Jutland in the Varde Municipality, in Region of Southern Denmark. As of 1 January 2024, it has a population of 2,840. Oksbøl Refugee Camp houses the refugee museum FLUGT, which opened in 2022. The museum describes the story of refugees from various conflicts throughout history as well as convey the history of the refugee camp. The museum is designed by Bjarke Ingels Group. Oksbøl is connected to the rest of Jutland via the town's two railway stations, and on the Vestbanen railway line, which runs trains between Nørre Nebel and Esbjerg via Varde. Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party (DPP; , DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The party saw a period of significant growth after its founding and lent its support to the – Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. While not part of the cabinet, DF cooperated closely with the governing coalition on most issues and received support for key political stances in return, to the point that the government was commonly referred to as the "VKO-government" (O being DF's election symbol). The Green Left, since March 2022 the English name for Socialistisk Folkeparti (, , abbr. SF), is a democratic socialist political party in Denmark. SF was founded on 15 February 1959 by Aksel Larsen, a former leader of the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP), who was removed for criticizing the Soviet intervention in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Nye Borgerlige (NB for short and often translated as the New Right) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. Formed by Pernille Vermund and Peter Seier Christensen in 2015, it first entered the Folketing in 2019 with four seats (out of 179) and again in 2022 with six. After three defections in the first months after the election, by March 2023 the party's number of seats in the Folketing was reduced to three. Having been chairman throughout its existence, Vermund resigned in January 2023. Lars Boje Mathiesen succeeded her in February but was expelled after just 30 days in office. With two MFs having left before then, Vermund took over again as '' de facto'' chairman, being officially reelected in October.
