This article lists all the urban local bodies in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, including municipal corporations, municipalities and Nagar panchayats. According to the Directorate of Town and Country Planning under the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the state comprises 123 urban local bodies across its 26 districts. These include 17 municipal corporations, 77 municipalities, and 29 Nagar panchayats. Based on available data, Bheemunipatnam is the oldest municipality in Andhra Pradesh and the second oldest in India, after Chennapatnam (modern-day Chennai). Currently, Bheemunipatnam is part of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). In the Rayalaseema region, Adoni, located in the Kurnool district, holds the distinction of being the oldest municipality, followed by Kurnool. In India, the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), also called municipalities, are self-government institutions responsible for the administration of cities, towns, and transitional areas within a state or Union Territory. The 74th amendment to the Constitution of India in 1992 provided constitutional framework for the establishment of Urban Local Bodies. There are three types of Urban Local Bodies in India, which include municipal corporations governing large urban areas, municipal councils governing smaller urban areas, and nagar panchayats governing transitional areas from rural to urban. Kurnool District
Kurnool district is one of the eight districts in the Rayalaseema region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh after the districts are reorganised in April 2022. It is located in the north western part of the state and is bounded by Nandyal district in the east, Anantapur district in the south, Raichur district of Karnataka in the northwest, Bellary district of Karnataka in the west, and Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana in the north. Kadapa Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the city of Kadapa in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the oldest Municipalities of the state, constituted in the year 1868 and was upgraded to Corporation in 2004. Its jurisdiction encompasses an area of 164.08 km2 (63.35 sq mi).
