This list of the University of Notre Dame alumni, includes graduates, non-graduate former students, and current students of University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame and its graduate and professional schools. Since the university's founding in 1842, there have been 162 graduation, commencement exercises at the university. Although only two degrees were awarded to the first class in 1849, today the living alumni, known collectively as the "Fighting Irish", number near 120,000. James Gower
Rev. James Gower (August 17, 1922 – December 17, 2012) was an American Roman Catholic priest and peace activist. Gower and his former high school classmate, businessman Les Brewer, co-founded the College of the Atlantic, a private, liberal arts college in Mount Desert Island, Maine, in 1969. Early life and education James Gower was born in 1922 in Noank, Connecticut. He graduated from Bar Harbor High School in Bar Harbor, Maine, in 1940, and enrolled at the University of Notre Dame. Gower enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and was later ordained a Catholic priest in 1953. Career Gower served as a Catholic chaplain for Bates College, Husson College, the University of Maine in Orono, Maine, as well as at Bangor International Airport. Skidmore College
Skidmore College is a Private school, private liberal arts colleges in the United States, liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York. Approximately 2,700 students are enrolled at Skidmore pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in one of more than 60 areas of study. The college originated from a women's industrial club that was founded by Lucy Skidmore Scribner in 1903 and chartered as a school in 1911. Robert Glennen
Robert Eugene Glennen Jr. (March 31, 1933 – December 1, 2015) was an American education administrator, who served as Emporia State University's thirteenth president in Emporia, Kansas. Before becoming president of Emporia State, Glennen also served as the tenth president at Western New Mexico University, and held various administrative jobs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Notre Dame. Education Glennen received his bachelor of arts and master's degree from the University of Portland, and his doctorate from the University of Notre Dame in 1962.
