Samyukta Prajatantra Party Nepal (, translation: United Democracy Party Nepal) was a political party in Nepal. The party was led by Kunwar Inderjit Singh. History In October 1955, after his arrival from China, where he was in hiding after escaping from prison, Kunwar Inderjit Singh announced the formation of the United Democratic Party Nepal. The party was formed as a nationalist force that was an alternative to the parties that existed in the country. On 26 July 1957, Dr. K.I. Singh was appointed as the prime minister by King Mahendra and told to form a coalition government. He failed to do so as other political parties distrusted him. He was sacked less than four months later by the king after he attempted to reform the palace secretariat. The United Democratic Party (UDP) is an opposition liberal party in Tanzania. The party is an observer at Liberal International. Electoral performance At the 2000 legislative elections, the party won 2 out of 269 seats in the National Assembly. In the presidential elections of the same day, its candidate John Cheyo won 4.2% of the vote. The party didn't field a presidential candidate on the 14 December 2005 election, but did win one seat in National Assembly elections held on the same day. The United Democratic Party (UDP) is a political party in Namibia, representing mainly people from Eastern Caprivi and advocating for the secession of the Caprivi Strip. Following a government directive from 1 September 2006 to forbid all the party's meetings in Namibia, it is effectively banned. History The party was founded by Mishake Muyongo in 1985 as successor to the Caprivi African National Union. In 1988 the National Progressive Party split off. Originally a member of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) group of parties, it was expelled from this alliance in 1998 after it openly voiced support for the secession of the Caprivi.
