Union Nationale (Quebec)
The Union nationale () was a conservatism, conservative and Nationalism, nationalist provincial political party in Quebec, Canada, that identified with Autonomism in Quebec, Québécois autonomism. It was created during the Great Depression and held power in Quebec from 1936 to 1939, from 1944 to 1960 and from 1966 to 1970. The party was founded by Maurice Duplessis, who led it until his death in 1959. The party was often referred to in English as the National Union, especially when it was still an electoral force, by both the media and, at times, the party. The Rwandese National Union (, UNAR) was a conservative, pro-monarchy political party in Rwanda. History Founding and early activities Union Nationale Rwandaise (Rwandese National Union), or UNAR, was a conservative Rwandan political party. Founded on 3 September 1959, by François Rukeba, and strongly supported by King Kigeri V of Rwanda, Kigeri V. At the time, Rwanda was still under Belgium, Belgian administration, and UNAR was the leading monarchist party. It called for immediate independence under a hereditary Tutsi constitutional monarchy. Michel Rwagasana became its secretary general. The party boycotted the 1960 local elections, but participated in the Rwandan parliamentary election, 1961, 1961 parliamentary elections, receiving 17% of the vote, winning 7 of the 44 seats in the Legislative Assembly. The Chadian National Union (, UNT) was a radical Muslim political party in Chad. History The party was founded in 1958 by Issa Dana, Mahamut Outman and Abba Siddick. Created to lobby the "no" vote to the referendum on Chad's entry in the French Community, the party advocated drastic political reforms, to be achieved if necessary through violence. History The National Union was founded in Geneva in 1932 by the merging of two parties, the ''Ordre politique national'', founded in 1930 by the writer and journalist Georges Oltramare, and the ''Union de défense économique'', founded in 1923 by a split from the right wing of the Democratic Party (which became later the Liberal Party of Switzerland, Liberal Party).
