Lofthus, Hordaland
Lofthus is a village in the municipality of Ullensvang, which is located in the Hardanger region of Vestland county, Norway. The village lies along the eastern shore of the Sørfjorden (Hardanger), Sørfjorden, along Norwegian National Road 13. Lofthus is located about south of the village of Kinsarvik and about north of the town of Odda (town), Odda. Odda (town)
is a town in Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality and the largest urban area in the whole Hardanger district. The town is located at the southern end of the Sørfjorden, in a narrow valley between towering mountains and the lake Sandvinvatnet to the south. The large Folgefonna glacier lies just west of Odda, high up in the mountains. The village of Odda was declared a "town" in 2004. Vikebygd is a village area in the municipality of Ullensvang in Vestland county, Norway. The village area is actually made up of the conurbation of the smaller villages of Bleie and Nå. Utne
Utne is a village in Ullensvang municipality in the Hardanger region of Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern end of the Folgefonn Peninsula, at the confluence of the Sørfjorden and Hardangerfjorden. The village is the site of Utne Church. The village of Alsåker lies about to the west on the northern shore of the peninsula and the village of Vikebygd lies about to the south along the eastern shore of the peninsula. Utne is a ferry port with regular ferry routes from Kinsarvik to Kvanndal via Utne, connecting the two sides of the fjord. Utne is also home to the Utne Hotel, Norway's oldest hotel in continuous operation, founded in 1722. Name Utne, in Norwegian, probably has some pre-Germanic elements (i.e. before approx. 200 CE). Kysnesstranda
Kysnesstranda is a village in the Ullensvang municipality, Vestland county, Norway. The village lies along the southern shore of the Hardangerfjorden. The village lies about south of the village of Jondal. History Kysnesstranda was historically part of the old municipality of Strandebarm. Strandebarm included territory on both sides of the Hardangerfjorden. In 1826, the most of Strandebarm located east of the fjord was separated from Strandebarm to create the new municipality Ullensvang; however, the village of Kysnesstranda and the area surrounding it remained a part of Strandebarm despite its location on the east side of the fjord. On 1 January 1964, when Strandebarm municipality was merged into the neighboring municipality of Kvam, the Kysnesstranda area was merged into Jondal. Kysnesstranda had 100 inhabitants at that time. Røldal
Røldal is a village in the municipality of Ullensvang in Vestland county, Norway. The village lies in the Røldal valley along the Storelva river on the north end of the lake Røldalsvatnet.
