Alexander Aksinin
Alexander Aksinin (2 October 1949 – 3 May 1985) was a Ukrainian Printmaking, printmaker and Painting, painter. His sophisticated etching technique, precision and perfectionist attention to details earned him the sobriquet the “Albrecht Dürer, Dürer of Lviv”. Art critics hailed him as “a 20th century Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Piranesi” for his dramatic and elaborate constructs. Early life and education Alexander Aksinin was born to military cartographer Dmitriy Aksinin and railroad official Ludmila Aksinina. In 1972 he graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Printing, Ukrainian Institute of Printing, where he specialized in Graphics Arts. Career From 1972 to 1977, Aksinin worked as an art editor in a publishing house, served in the Soviet army and then worked as an art designer in an industrial design office. Isaak Brodsky
Isaak Izrailevich Brodsky (, ;  – 14 August 1939) was a Russian painter and draughtsman of Jewish descent best known for his portrayals of Vladimir Lenin and other Soviet leaders, renowned as blueprint examples of the Socialist realist style. Life and career Brodsky was born in the village of Sofiyivka near Berdyansk in modern day Ukraine to Yisrael, a Jewish merchant. He studied at Odessa Art Academy and the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. For five years he studied at the Academy under Ilya Repin. In 1916, he joined the Jewish Society for the Encouragement of the Arts. When Brodsky asked Lenin to autograph his painting ''Lenin'', he said: "I am signing to what I don't agree with for the first time". Brodsky was on good terms with many leading Russian painters, including his mentor, Ilya Repin. Igor Filippov (painter)
Igor Filippov (born 24 June 1961) is a painter from Sevastopol, Ukraine. Filippov has exhibited his works at many museums and festivals in Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Norway, Spain, Germany, France) and the United States. He was also a professor of art at the Municipal Art School, Severodvinsk, Russia (1990–2003). The general theme of his work is "myths of different cultures." Grigoriy Dovzhenko
Grigoriy Avksentiyevich Dovzhenko (22 April 1899 – 21 April 1980) was a Ukrainian muralist, Honoured Artist of USSR, member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Biography Grigoriy Avksentiyevich Dovzhenko was born on 22 April (10 April old style) 1899, in Poltavka village (now Bashtanka, Mykolaiv Oblast, Ukraine). In 1907 – 1913 he studied in Poltava local school (2 classes). In 1913, his family moved to Gvozdievka village in Siberia. In 1916, Grigoriy Dovzhenko moved to Omsk, where he was working as a porter. At the same time he passed exams without attending the higher school. In 1917 Dovzhenko began studying at the Red Arts of Siberia. Mychajlo Dmytrenko
Mychajlo Serhiyovych Dmytrenko (; November 9, 1908, Lokhvytsi, Poltava, Russian Empire – March 8, 1997) was a Ukrainian painter of world recognition. Dmytrenko settled in Detroit and examples of his work can be found there. Along with his other works Dmytrenko was responsible for the interior design of the St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church in the East Village, Manhattan between 1977 and 1989. Mykhailo Derehus
Mykhailo Hordiiovych Derehus (; born December 5, 1904, Veseloye, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukrainian SSR — July 31, 1997, Kyiv, Ukraine) was a Soviet Ukrainian graphic artist, painter and educator. In 1969 he was awarded the Shevchenko National Prize. His work is held in the collection of the Kuindzhi Art Museum, Mariupol, Ukraine. Life and work Derehus' expressionist lithographs illustrated the 1936 edition of Ivan Kotliarevsky's '' Eneïda''. He also illustrated the works of Nikolai Gogol, Lesya Ukrainka, Marko Vovchok, and Natan Rybak. He was Chairman of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine from 1955 to 1962. Awards *1969: Shevchenko National Prize Legacy A bronze plaque at 9 Volodymyrska Street, Kyiv, commemorates where Derehus lived from 1973 to 1997. On 25 October 2004, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation a commemorative coin with a face value of ₴2, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Deregus. Sonia Delaunay
Sonia Delaunay (; 14 November 1885 – 5 December 1979) was a French artist born to Jewish parents, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She was born in the Russian Empire, now Ukraine, and was formally trained in Russia and Germany, before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She was part of the School of Paris and co-founded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of the French Legion of Honor. Her work in modern design included the concepts of geometric abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her art practice. Mykhaylo Chornyi
Mykhaylo Nikiforovich Chornyi (; ; November 26, 1933 – September 24, 2020) was a Ukrainian Realism (arts), Realist, Neo-Primitivist) painter and graphic artist. Chornyi is described as "the founder of Ukrainian Neo-Folk Style". He was a member of Ukrainian National Creative unions in the Soviet Union, Artists' Union from 1968, and was awarded the People's Artist of Ukraine (2003). Background Mykhaylo Chornyi studied art from 1956 to 1961 at Odessa State Art College n.a. M.
