Road Historic The town of Swindon lies near a junction of two Roman roads which passed close to the site of the Roman fortified town of Durocornovium. Ermin Way passed to the east of the town and was the route from Corinium (Cirencester) to Calleva Atrebatum ( Silchester). Secondly a road from Cunetio ( Mildenhall, near Marlborough) joined the Ermin Way near Durocornovium. The ancient path of the Ridgeway passes to the south of the town. The M4 corridor is an area in the United Kingdom adjacent to the M4 motorway, which runs from London to South Wales. It is a major hi-tech hub. Stratton St Margaret
Stratton St Margaret is a civil parish in the Borough of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The parish covers north-eastern suburbs of Swindon including Stratton St Margaret itself, along with Upper Stratton, Lower Stratton and Kingsdown. Geography Stratton St Margaret, once a distinct village, has now become the northeastern part of Swindon and is rapidly becoming suburbanised. The area of the parish was originally much larger than it is now. Most of Gorse Hill was part of the parish until it was transferred to Swindon in 1890, and a large part of the Penhill housing estate was once fields to the north of Stratton St. Margaret. In the south, Nythe was separated from Stratton St. Margaret in 2015 and now forms part of Nythe, Eldene and Liden parish. A420 Road
The A420 is a road between Bristol and Oxford in England. Between Swindon and Oxford it is a primary route. Route Since the opening of the M4 motorway in the 1970s, the road has been in two sections. The first section begins on Old Market Street near the centre of Bristol and passes through Kingswood before leaving the city on the east side. From here it travels eastward over the southern part of the Cotswolds, to the north of Bath, to Chippenham in Wiltshire. The second section begins at a junction with the A419 east of Swindon. It then travels under the Great Western Main Line at the twin-arch Acorn Bridge (the second arch was originally used by the Wilts & Berks Canal) and past Shrivenham and Watchfield (both bypassed in the 1980s), then on towards Faringdon in the Vale of White Horse. Whitminster
__NOTOC__ Whitminster is a village and civil parish in the Stroud District, Stroud district, in Gloucestershire, England, on the A38 road, A38 trunk road approximately south of Gloucester and north-west of Stroud. The parish population at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 881. The hamlet of Wheatenhurst is signposted from the A38 road, A38 at Whitminster. Whitminster is close to Junction 13 of the M5 motorway, with Bristol, South Wales and the south English Midlands, Midlands all within an hour's drive.
