Rome has an extensive internal transport system and is one of the most important road, rail and air hubs in Italy. Rome banned diesel vehicles from its roads for the first time on Tuesday 14 January 2020. The local transport authority said the order would affect around one million vehicles. Line A () of the Rome Metro runs across the city from the north-west terminus of Battistini (Rome Metro), Battistini to the south-east terminus at Anagnina (Rome Metro), Anagnina. EUR is a residential area and the major business district in Rome, Italy, part of the Municipio IX. The area was originally chosen in the 1930s as the site for the 1942 World's Fair which Benito Mussolini planned to open to celebrate twenty years of Fascism, the letters EUR standing for Esposizione Universale Roma ("Rome Universal Exposition"). The project was originally called ''E42'' after the year in which the exhibition was to be held. San Giovanni (Rome Metro)
San Giovanni is an underground interchange station on Lines A and C of the Rome Metro. The station is located in Piazzale Appio at the beginning of Via Appia Nuova, beside the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, from which the station takes its name. It opened in 1980 on Line A. On May 12, 2018, Line C was extended to the station. It serves as the westernmost terminus of Line C, pending its extension to Fori Imperiali, which is currently under construction.
