Transport In Macau
Transport in Macau includes road, sea, rail and air transport. Road transport is the primary mode of transport within Macau, although a new rail system opened in December 2019 serving the areas of Taipa and Cotai. The main forms of public transport are buses and taxis. Modes of transport out of Macau include ferries to Hong Kong and mainland China from two ferry terminals, as well as helicopter service to Hong Kong. International flights are available from Macau International Airport. Internal Road Buses and taxis are the major modes of public transport in Macau. Bus services are frequent and inexpensive, linking the Macau peninsula, Taipa, Cotai and Coloane. Transmac and TCM are the only operators of Macau's bus services. Transmac
The Transportes Urbanos de Macau S.A.R.L. (Transmac; ) is one of the two public bus operators in Macau, China, along with TCM). It began service in 1988, taking over the service provided by its predecessor "Fok Lei Autocarro S.A.". In Mainland China, Transmac operates bus services in Xinhui and Wuhu under the name Xinfuli. Before 2008, Xinfuli also operated in Guangzhou and Foshan, but this two cities's Xinfuli has been purchased by others. Currently, Transmac owns three depots in Macau proper and Taipa, namely Ilha Verde depot, Pac On Depot and Macau Tower Depot. Nearly all of the buses currently operated by Transmac were manufactured in mainland China. Mitsubishi Fuso Rosa minibuses are the only non-Chinese buses currently operated by Transmac. The cycle rickshaw is a small-scale local means of transport. It is a type of hatchback tricycle designed to carry passengers on a for-hire basis. It is also known by a variety of other names such as bike taxi, velotaxi, pedicab, bikecab, cyclo, beca, becak, trisikad, sikad, tricycle taxi, trishaw, or hatchback bike. As opposed to rickshaws pulled by a person on foot, cycle rickshaws are human-powered by pedaling. Another type of rickshaw is the auto rickshaw. Overview The first cycle rickshaws were built in the 1880s, and they were first used widely in 1929 in Singapore. Six years later they outnumbered pulled rickshaws.
