Transport In Berlin
Berlin has developed a highly complex transportation infrastructure providing very diverse modes of urban mobility. 979 bridges cross 197 kilometers of innercity waterways, of roads run through Berlin, of which are motorways. Long-distance rail lines connect Berlin with all of the major cities of Germany and with many cities in neighboring European countries. Regional rail lines provide access to the surrounding regions of Brandenburg and to the Baltic Sea. Road transport In 2013, 1.344 million motor vehicles were registered in the city. Bundesautobahn 111
is an autobahn in Germany. It connects the Berliner Stadtring (A 100) with the Berliner Ring (A 10). Before reunification, it was called the A 11. The A 111 was used from 31 December 1987 to German reunification in 1990 for transit traffic through the GDR to Hamburg and Malmö (Sweden) with the border crossing Heiligensee / Stolpe. From 1975 until reunification, the highway was designated as A 11. As part of the numbering of motorways after 1990 in East Germany then the new number A 111 was assigned. is an orbital motorway around the German capital city of Berlin. Colloquially called ''Berliner Ring'', it is predominantly located in the state of Brandenburg, with a short stretch of in Berlin itself. It should not be confused with the ''Berliner Stadtring'' ( Bundesautobahn 100) around Berlin's inner city. With a total length of , the BAB 10 is the longest orbital in Europe, being longer than the M25 motorway around London. Bundesautobahn 24
is an autobahn in northern Germany that connects the large metropolitan regions of Hamburg and Berlin. It was one of the three transit access roads to West Berlin during the Cold War. On that road, there is a 150 km (93 mi) long section that has no speed limit at all (only a recommended speed of 130 km/h), which means that about 65% of that Autobahn can be driven at very high speed. History Planning for the autobahn began as far back as the 1930s; before World War II numerous bridges and sections of roadside shoulder were built between Hamburg and Berlin. The German divide, however, put a hold on further work and it was not until 1978 that construction was resumed, carried out by a GDR work force and paid for by West Germany. is an autobahn in eastern Germany, connecting Berlin with Dresden. History The course of the A 13 was initially planned differently in the early 1930s than later realized. The alignment was originally about 30 kilometers further west between Golßen and Ortrand approximately along the railway Berlin-Dresden and thus affect the villages Doberlug-Kirchhain, Finsterwalde, Luckau and Schlieben. This would eliminate the motorway junction to the A 15 and the existing motorway gap between the freeways between Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin and Cottbus would have a lesser extent. Frankfurt (Oder), also known as Frankfurt an der Oder (), is a city in the German state of Brandenburg.
