Trade Union Coordination Centre
Trade Union Coordination Centre is a central trade union federation in India. TUCC is politically attached to All India Forward Bloc. TUCC was founded in 1970. Prasanta Das Gupta was the founding general secretary of TUCC. Prior to the foundation of TUCC, the trade union leaders of the Forward Bloc had belonged to the United Trade Union Congress. TUCC is mainly based in the state of West Bengal. As of 1980 TUCC claimed to have 272,229 members in 182 affiliated unions. The Ministry of Labour verified 65 affiliated unions with a combined membership of 123,048. As of 1995 TUCC was the smallest of the ten Central Trade Union Organisations recognised by the Indian Ministry of Labour, counting 65 affiliated unions. As of 2002, TUCC had 737,760 members, out of whom 554,207 were agricultural or rural workers. World Federation Of Trade Unions
The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) is an international federation of trade union, trade unions established on October 3, 1945. Founded in the immediate aftermath of World War Two, the organization built on the pre-war legacy of the International Federation of Trade Unions as a single structure for trade unions world-wide, following the World Trade Union Conference#Committee, World Trade Union Conference in London, United Kingdom. With the emergence of the Cold War in the late 1940s, the WFTU splintered, with most trade unions from the Western bloc, Western-aligned countries leaving and creating the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) in 1949. The All India Forward Bloc ( AIFB) is a Left-wing nationalism, left-wing nationalist political party in India. It emerged as a Political faction, faction within the Indian National Congress in 1939, led by Subhas Chandra Bose, and was strongest in West Bengal. The party re-established as an independent political party after the independence of India. United Trade Union Congress
United Trade Union Congress is a central trade union organisation in India. UTUC is politically tied to Revolutionary Socialist Party. Ashok Ghosh is the general secretary of UTUC. According to provisional statistics from the Ministry of Labour, UTUC had a membership of 383,946 in 2002. UTUC was founded at an All India Labour Conference in Calcutta, 1 May 1949. The founding president was professor K.T. Shah, a member of the Constituent Assembly from Bombay, and the founding general secretary was Mrinal Kanti Bose, a former AITUC president from Bengal. At the time of its foundation, Bose claimed that the organisation consisted of 236 unions with a combined membership of 347,428. Trade unions in India are registered and file annual returns under the Trade Union Act (1926). Statistics on trade unions are collected annually by the Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. According to the latest data released for 2012, there were 16,154 trade unions with a combined membership of 9.18 million, based on returns from 15 states out of a total of 28 states and 9 union territories.
