History Tokyo University of Science was founded in 1881 as The Tokyo Academy of Physics by 21 graduates of the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science, University of Tokyo. In 1883, it was renamed the Tokyo College of Science, and in 1949, it attained university status and became the Tokyo University of Science. Kagurazaka
is a neighbourhood in Tokyo, northwest of Iidabashi Station. It has a shopping street at its center, lined by numerous cafés and restaurants. It is served by Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and Toei Oedo Line. Masatoshi Ōkōchi
Viscount was a Japanese physicist and business executive. He was the third director of the Riken Institute, a position which he assumed in 1921 and held for 25 years. During this period, he was notable for establishing the ''Riken Konzern'', a zaibatsu of companies which focused on utilizing Riken's research results to produce commercial products. Personal life He was the eldest son of Ōkōchi Masatada, son of Manabe Akikatsu and adopted son of Matsudaira Masatomo. He married a daughter of his uncle Ōkōchi Nobuhisa, another son of Akikatsu but adopted by Matsudaira Nobuaki, with whom he had issue, including Nobuhiro Ōkōchi. Hisashi Terao
Hisashi Terao (寺尾 寿, ''Terao Hisashi'') (1855-1923) was a Japanese astronomer and mathematician. He graduated from the Tokyo imperial University as well as from the University of Paris, and he was one of the founding members and the first principal of The Tokyo Academy of Physics (now Tokyo University of Science). Notable students that studied under him include Shin Hirayama, Hisashi Kimura, and Kiyotsugu Hirayama. He is also called one of the first astronomers of the Meiji era.
