Tiwi, officially the Municipality of Tiwi (; ), is a municipality in the Province of Albay, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 56,444 people. Etymology Friars called the place ''Tigbi'', which evolved into ''Tivi'' and, then, finally to its present name ''Tiwi''. History Tiwi began as a ''barrio'' of Malinao before it was formally organized as a politically independent ''pueblo'' in 1696. As a ''pueblo'', it was governed by a ''gobernadorcillo''. As a Catholic parish, it was administered by a secular priest under the then Diocese of Nueva Caceres, now an archdiocese. In its primeval stages, it had some 1,105 houses, a parish church, a community-funded primary school, and a cemetery outside the town proper. The villagers ordinarily engaged in fishing, planting rice, corn, sugarcane, indigo, fruit-bearing trees, and vegetables. Tiwi, Kenya
Tiwi is a small settlement and beach resort in Kenya. It is located north of Diani Beach, and is approximately south of Mombasa. The area is served by Ukunda Airport and the A14 road via the Likoni Ferry from Mombasa. While neighboring Diani Beach has seen a strong increase in tourism in recent decades, Tiwi has remained less developed in terms of tourism facilities. The area is expected to see an increase in tourism with the completion of the Dongo Kundu Bypass Highway (a.k.a. the Mombasa Southern Bypass). Protected by a coral reef providing a natural breakwater, Tiwi is characterized by calm, shallow waters and white, sandy beaches. Ṭīwī () is a town in Oman. It is known for an archaeological site in the area known as al-Jurayf, in Ṣūr Wilayat Sharqiyah. The town and the site are located between Wadi Shab and Wadi Tiwi on the Gulf of Oman. Archaeological site This fortified village was inhabited in the Samad Late Iron Age and during Islamic times. It is known as Tiwi site TW2 (22°49'14.38"N, 59°15'34.00"E, 75 m altitude). The archaeological site lies inside the cusp of a mountain and contains surface finds attributable to the Samad Late Iron Age It lies 700 m west of the coast.
