Tineidae
Tineidae is a family of moths in the order Lepidoptera described by Pierre André Latreille in 1810. Collectively, they are known as fungus moths or tineid moths. The family contains considerably more than 3,000 species in more than 300 genera. Most of the tineid moths are small or medium-sized, with wings held roofwise over the body when at rest. They are particularly common in the Palaearctic, but many occur elsewhere, and some are found very widely as introduced species. Tineids are unusual among Lepidoptera as the larvae of only a very small number of species feed on living plants, the majority feeding on fungi, lichens, and detritus (biology), detritus. The most familiar members of the family are the clothes moths, which have adapted to feeding on stored fabrics and led to their reputation as a household pest. The most widespread of such species are the common clothes moth (''Tineola bisselliella''), the case-bearing clothes moth (''Tinea pellionella''), and the carpet moth ...

European Grain Moth
''Nemapogon granella'' (European grain worm or European grain moth) is a species of tineoid moth. It belongs to the fungus moth family (Tineidae), and therein to the subfamily Nemapogoninae. It is the type species of its genus '' Nemapogon'', and via that also of the subfamily Nemapogoninae. It is also the type species of the proposed genera ''Brosis'' (as established by J. Hübner, a junior homonym and thus invalid) and ''Diaphthirusa'', which are consequently junior objective synonyms of ''Nemapogon''. Ecology and description This moth ranges widely across the western Palearctic. However, even in its native range its distribution is somewhat patchy; in the UK for example, it is widespread, but may still be locally absent. It has not been recorded from France and Slovenia, but this may simply be due to its being overlooked or confused with similar species than being genuinely absent, as it is found in the neighboring countries. Its apparent absence from Iceland, on the othe ...

Stathmopolitinae
''Stathmopolitis'' is a genus of moths belonging to the family (biology), family Tineidae. It is the only genus of the Stathmopolitinae subfamily and contains only one species, ''Stathmopolitis tragocoprella'', which is found on the Canary Islands. The wingspan is 12–20 mm. The forewings are pale fawn, mottled with dark fuscous. The hindwings are pale greyish fuscous. The larvae have been recorded feeding in old pellets of goats' dung. They are semitransparent ivory white, with a pale yellowish brown head.lepiforum.de

Tinea (moth)
''Tinea'' is a genus of the fungus moth family, Tineidae. Therein, it belongs to the subfamily Tineinae. As evident by its name, it is the type genus of its subfamily and family. Established as one of the first subgroups of ''" Phalaena"'', it used to contain many species of Tineidae that are nowadays placed in other genera, as well as a few moths nowadays placed elsewhere. Selected species Species of ''Tinea'' include: * '' Tinea accusatrix'' Meyick, 1916 (New Zealand) * '' Tinea analytica'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Guyana) * '' Tinea antricola'' Meyrick, 1924 (India, Sumatra, Indonesia and Malaysia) * '' Tinea apicimaculella'' Chambers, 1875 (North America) * '' Tinea atmogramma'' Meyrick, 1927 (New Zealand) * '' Tinea atriflua'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Ontario, Canada) * '' Tinea basifasciella'' Ragonot, 1895 * '' Tinea behrensella'' Chambers, 1875 * '' Tinea bothniella'' Svensson, 1953 * '' Tinea borboropis'' Meyrick, 1919 (from Guyana) * '' Tinea caerula'' Meyrick, 1927 (from ...

Lepidoptera
Lepidoptera ( ) or lepidopterans is an order (biology), order of winged insects which includes butterflies and moths. About 180,000 species of the Lepidoptera have been described, representing 10% of the total described species of living organisms, making it the second largest insect order (behind Coleoptera) with 126 family (biology), families and 46 Taxonomic rank, superfamilies, and one of the most widespread and widely recognizable insect orders in the world. Lepidopteran species are characterized by more than three derived features. The most apparent is the presence of scale (anatomy), scales that cover the torso, bodies, large triangular Insect wing, wings, and a proboscis for siphoning nectars. The scales are modified, flattened "hairs", and give butterflies and moths their wide variety of colors and patterns. Almost all species have some form of membranous wings, except for a few that have reduced wings or are wingless. Mating and the laying of eggs is normally performe ...
