Thisted Bryghus
Thisted Brewery ( Danish: ''Thisted Bryghus'') is a regional brewery in Thisted in the north of Denmark founded in 1902. The brewery supplies the local market with pilsner beer, and has gained recognition internationally for beers like ''Porse Guld'' (spiced with bog myrtle) and ''Limfjords Porter'', a Baltic porter. In 1995 Thisted Brewery was the first Danish brewer to introduce an organic beer. Thisted Brewery was named the 2015 Brewery of the Year by the 9,000 members of the Danish beer enthusiasts association, ''Danske Ølentusiaster''. Twentieth century beer writer Michael Jackson wrote of Thisted's Limfjords Porter: :''"It was full of character: a dense, brownish, head over a slatey, black, brew; full-bodied and lightly oily; a touch of burnt-grass, rooty, peatiness; a long, warming, finish; and an alcohol content of 7.9. Thisted Municipality
Thisted municipality is a municipality ( Danish: '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region, Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 1,072 km², and has a total population of 45,549 (2008). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Thisted. On 1 January 2007 Thisted municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with Hanstholm and Sydthy municipalities to form a new Thisted municipality. Thy (district)
Thy (, local dialect ) is a traditional district in northwestern Jutland, Denmark. It is situated north of the Limfjord, facing the North Sea and Skagerrak, and has a population of around 44,000. The capital is Thisted. Snedsted, Hanstholm and Hurup are minor towns in the area. Since the Danish municipal reform of 1 January 2007, Thy is roughly identical with Thisted Municipality which belongs to the North Denmark Region. The southernmost part of Thy, the Thyholm Peninsula, belongs to Struer Municipality in the Central Denmark Region. Before the merger, Thy consisted of four municipalities: Hanstholm, Thisted, Sydthy and Thyholm. Thy forms the western part of the North Jutlandic Island and borders Hanherred to the northeast with Vendsyssel even further northeast. Region Nordjylland
The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2006, when Ærø Municipality was created, to 98. Limfjord
The Limfjord ( common Danish: ''Limfjorden'' , in north Jutlandish dialect: ''Æ Limfjord'') is a shallow part of the sea, located in Denmark where it has been regarded as a fjord ever since Viking times. However, it now has inlets both from the North Sea and Kattegat, and hence separates the North Jutlandic Island (Danish: ''Nørrejyske Ø'', which includes the old provinces of ''Vendsyssel'', ''Han herred'' and ''Thy'') from the rest of the Jutland Peninsula. The Limfjord extends from Thyborøn Channel on the North Sea to Hals on the Kattegat. It is approximately 180 kilometres (111 miles) long and of an irregular shape with numerous bays, narrowings, and islands, most notably Mors, and the smaller ones Fur, Venø, Jegindø, Egholm and Livø. Thy Railway Line
The Thy Line ( da, Thybanen) is a long standard gauge single track railway line in Denmark which runs between Struer and Thisted through the historical region of Thy. The railway opened in 1882. It is owned and maintained by Rail Net Denmark and served with passenger trains by Arriva and the Danish State Railways (DSB). The Thy Line runs north from Struer, crossing the Limfjord on a long bascule bridge, the Oddesund Bridge. From Oddesund the line cuts through the peninsula of Thyholm and continues through Thy to reach Thisted.
