The Krofft Supershow
''The Krofft Supershow'' is a Saturday morning children's variety show, produced by Sid and Marty Krofft. It aired for two seasons from September 11, 1976, to September 2, 1978, on American Broadcasting Company, ABC. Background The show was composed of several live-action segments, hosted by "Kaptain Kool and the Kongs", a rock band created for the series. The season one (1976–1977) segments were ''Dr. Shrinker'', ''Electra Woman and Dyna Girl'', and ''Wonderbug'', plus reruns of ''The Lost Saucer'' for the first half of the season (they were dropped when the show was cut from 90 minutes to one hour). For season two (1977–1978), ''Dr. Shrinker'' and ''Electra Woman and Dyna Girl'' were dropped and replaced with ''Bigfoot and Wildboy'' and ''Magic Mongo''. Joe Ruby
Joseph Clemens Ruby (March 30, 1933 – August 26, 2020) was an American animator, writer, television producer, and music editor. He was best known as a co-creator of the animated ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise, together with Ken Spears. In 1977, they co-founded the television animation production company Ruby-Spears, Ruby-Spears Productions. Ruby would work with Spears and would co-create several other shows including, ''Fangface'', ''Dynomutt, Dog Wonder'' and ''Jabberjaw'' among others. Ruby would meet Spears in 1959 at Hanna-Barbera, when the studio was being interviewed by Life Magazine and the two would start working together on animated shows. Before Ruby founded Ruby-Spears he would work with at several studios including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Hanna-Barbera, DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and with Sid and Marty Krofft. The World Of Sid And Marty Krofft
The World of Sid and Marty Krofft was an entirely indoor amusement park in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. It was based on the various television shows produced by the sibling duo Sid and Marty Krofft. History The park was built in the Omni International Complex, now the CNN Center, opening with great fanfare on May 26, 1976, and was featured prominently at the host segments during the first season of the Saturday morning program ''Krofft Supershow''. While launched with much hoopla in the national press, and incorporating quality performances and entertainment options (many of the performers came from Los Angeles to perform in the park during its run), it suffered from poor attendance, never seeing more than 300,000 visitors, and was closed after six months, on November 10. Norman Alden
Norman Alden ( Adelberg; September 13, 1924 – July 27, 2012) was an American character actor who performed in television programs and motion pictures. He first appeared on television on '' The 20th Century Fox Hour'' in 1957. He provided the voice of Sir Kay in '' The Sword in the Stone'' (1963), and had a notable role in '' I Never Promised You a Rose Garden''. His acting career began in 1957 and lasted nearly 50 years. He is also known for playing Kranix in '' The Transformers: The Movie'' (1986). He retired from acting in 2006. He died on July 27, 2012, at the age of 87. Billy Barty (born William John Bertanzetti; October 25, 1924 – December 23, 2000) was an American actor and activist. In adult life, he stood tall, due to cartilage–hair hypoplasia dwarfism. Because of his short stature, he was often cast in films opposite taller performers for comic effect. He specialized in outspoken or wisecracking characters. During the 1950s, he became a television actor, appearing regularly in the Spike Jones ensemble.
