''Marvel's The Defenders'' is an American television miniseries created by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez (writer), Marco Ramirez for the streaming service Netflix, based on the Marvel Comics characters Daredevil (Marvel Comics character), Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist (character), Iron Fist, who form the Defenders (comics), eponymous superhero team. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the franchise's films. The miniseries is a Crossover (fiction), crossover event and the culmination of four previously released Marvel's Netflix television series, interconnected series from Marvel and Netflix starring each superhero. Gil Kane (; born Eli Katz , ; April 6, 1926 – January 31, 2000) was a Latvian-born American comics artist whose career spanned the 1940s to the 1990s and virtually every major comics company and character.
