Tecmo Games
was a Japanese video game company founded in 1967. It had its headquarters in the Kudankita district of Tokyo. Its subsidiary, Tecmo Inc, was located in Torrance, California. Prior to 1986, Tecmo was formerly known as Tehkan. Tecmo is known for the ''Captain Tsubasa'', ''Dead or Alive (series), Dead or Alive'', ''Deception (video game series), Deception'', ''Fatal Frame'', ''Gallop Racer'', ''Monster Rancher (series), Monster Rancher'', ''Ninja Gaiden'', ''Rygar (arcade game), Rygar'', ''Star Force'' and ''Tecmo Bowl'' video game series. A rainbow is an optical phenomenon caused by refraction, internal reflection and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a continuous spectrum of light appearing in the sky. Tehkan World Cup
originally released as in Japan, is an association football video game released to arcades in 1985 by Tehkan, the former name of Tecmo. It features multiplayer gameplay and trackball controllers. It was released in both upright and table arcade cabinets, but was most commonly released in a cocktail cabinet form factor. Its arrival coincided with the buildup to the 1986 FIFA World Cup. It featured the then colors of several of the world's top teams such as West Germany, Argentina and Brazil, although it did not mention any team by name. The game uses a bird's-eye view, with the trackball controls allowing game physics such as controlling both the direction and speed of the shot. also known as ''All American Football'', is an American football video game developed and released by Tehkan (later known as Tecmo) for arcades in 1985. It is a one or two player game based on gridiron football (American football), and was released in a cocktail cabinet form factor. The game uses trackball controls, used to determine the speed and direction at which the player runs. Designed by Shin-ichiro Tomie and programmed by Michihito Ishizuka, with background graphics by his wife Rie Ishizuka (Rie Yatomi), the same team went on to develop the association football game (soccer game) '' Tehkan World Cup'' later the same year. Star Force
, also released in arcades outside of Japan as ''Mega Force'', is a 1984 vertically scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Tehkan for arcades. It was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System by Hudson Soft, with Tehkan's successor Tecmo releasing it outside Japan. Gameplay In the game, the player pilots a starship called the ''Final Star'', while shooting various enemies and destroying enemy structures for points. Unlike later vertical scrolling shooters, like Toaplan's ''Twin Cobra'', the ''Final Star'' had only two levels of weapon power and no secondary weapons like missiles and/or bombs. Each stage in the game was named after a letter of the Greek alphabet. Rygar (arcade Game)
is a 1986 platform video game developed and published by Tecmo for arcades. The player assumes the role of a "Legendary Warrior" who must navigate numerous levels and defeat enemies with a weapon called the "Diskarmor", a razor-sharp shield with a long chain attached to it that operates like a yo-yo. The warrior intends to defeat Ligar, an evil "dominator". Later ports, particularly the NES and Lynx versions, expanded on the near non-existent story from the original. The game was subsequently ported to the NES (1987), Commodore 64 (1987), ZX Spectrum (1987), Amstrad CPC (1987), Master System (1988), Atari Lynx (1990), and X68000 (1994); Nintendo released the NES version in arcades in 1987. is a 1986 puzzle video game developed and published by Tecmo for arcades. It was ported to multiple systems including the Nintendo Entertainment System and Commodore 64. Gallop Racer
is a series of horse racing video games, created by Tecmo. Overview ''Gallop Racer'' is an open-ended racing game in which the player purchases horses to train, race and breed. Most games in the series involve management of horses, with the exception of ''Gallop Racer 2004'', which focuses more on the jockeying riders. Horses are divided into four leg types: frontrunner, preceder, midrunner and closer, and the player must carefully choose the best leg type suited for each race to have the best stamina and strength available.
