''Talisman: The Magical Quest Game'' is a fantasy-themed adventure board game for two to six players, originally designed and produced by Games Workshop. The game was first released in 1983 and has gone through three revisions. As of 2024, the fifth edition (2024) is the latest version. The board game sold over 800,000 units by 2000. From 2008 to 2017 Fantasy Flight Games produced ''Talisman'' under license from Games Workshop. Beginning in 2019 Pegasus Spiele took over production of ''Talisman'' and all of the game expansions. As of 2025 a 5th edition of the game is being sold under license from Games Workshop by Avalon Hill. History The game was created by Robert J. Harris (writer), Robert Harris for the amusement of himself and his friends. The game's original objective was to become prefect of a boys' school. Changing the theme to fantasy, and naming the game "Talisman", Harris signed a royalty publishing contract with Games Workshop, and the game was shown at Games Day ...

''Talisman City'' is an expansion to the ''Talisman'' board game. It was published in 1989 by Games Workshop. Description ''Talisman City'' provides 72 new Encounter cards, 7 new Adventure cards, 3 new Dungeon cards, 20 new Purchase cards, 10 new Spells, 6 new Characters, and an additional board that represents Talisman City. The ''Talisman City'' expansion replaces the city space in the Outer Region on the original ''Talisman'' game board, where there are more places to visit and additional items to purchase. Special rules All characters visiting the city must always own at least one gold; an arrest warrant is issued for a penniless character, and if that character encounters the Patrol or Watch, the character is arrested and thrown into the Dungeon.
