TAFE Victoria
Skills Victoria is the Victorian Government body that oversees Victoria's independent TAFE Institutes. In 2012, the Victorian Liberal/National Coalition, under the leadership of Premier Ted Baillieu made large funding cuts (over $300M) to the TAFE public education system, resulting in many course being cut, campus closures and job losses. Ted Baillieu
Edward Norman Baillieu (born 31 July 1953) is a former Australian politician who was Premier of Victoria from 2010 to 2013. He was a Victorian Liberal Party, Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2014, representing the electorate of electoral district of Hawthorn, Hawthorn. He was elected leader of the Liberal Party in opposition in 2006, and served as Premier from 2010 until 2013 after winning the 2010 Victorian state election, 2010 state election. He resigned as Premier on 6 March 2013, and was succeeded by Denis Napthine. Early life Ted Baillieu is the youngest son of Darren and Diana Baillieu. Melbourne Polytechnic, formerly NMIT, is an institute of higher education and vocational education (TAFE) located in Melbourne, Australia that has been operating since around 1910. In October 2014, the institute was renamed to Melbourne Polytechnic, aided by a $19 million grant from the Victorian Government. A wide selection of study options in vocational education are offered from short courses, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and traineeships through to certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, and onto higher education, tertiary degrees under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Technical Education Centres (TEC) are purpose built centres for the delivery of practical secondary school and vocational education programs on a TAFE campus in the state of Victoria, Australia. They aim to attract young people 16–19 years of age to provide trade skills training while they complete a secondary school certificate. Prahran Campus Of Melbourne Polytechnic
Prahran Campus of Melbourne Polytechnic was established in 2013 as a hybrid educational organisation developed and administered by Melbourne Polytechnic when it was known as Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), offering vocational education courses encompassing Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma levels and Bachelor degrees at Prahran campus.
