Surabaya ( jv, ꦱꦸꦫꦧꦪ or jv, ꦯꦹꦫꦨꦪ; ; ) is the capital city of the Indonesian province of East Java and the second-largest city in Indonesia, after Jakarta. Located on the northeastern border of Java island, on the Madura Strait, it is one of the earliest port cities in Southeast Asia. According to the National Development Planning Agency, Surabaya is one of the four main central cities of Indonesia, alongside Jakarta, Medan, and Makassar. Eri Cahyadi
Eri Cahyadi (born 27 May 1977) is an Indonesian politician and bureaucrat who serves as Mayor of Surabaya since 26 February 2021. He was elected in the 2020 Surabaya mayoral election. Career Cahyadi graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology in 1999, and after a 2-year career as a consultant he began working for Surabaya's municipal government in 2001. Both his parents had previously also worked as government officials. By 2011, Cahyadi had been promoted to head the city government's public housing and urban planning department, and in 2018, he was appointed to head the municipal development planning body, in addition to heading the department of sanitation and public spaces. Port of Tanjung Perak ( id, Pelabuhan Tanjung Perak) is the second busiest sea port in Indonesia, located at Surabaya, East Java. It is the main port for the eastern part of the island of Java. Hotel Majapahit
The Hotel Majapahit is a historic hotel in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, opened in 1911. The hotel is currently managed by Accor through its MGallery chain. History The hotel was founded in 1910 as the Hotel Oranje by Lucas Martin Sarkies, the son of Martin Sarkies of the Sarkies brothers, who commissioned Regent Alfred John Bidwell to design the hotel. It opened in 1911. Two wings were added from 1923 to 1926 and an Art Deco lobby extension was opened in 1930. Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument, locally referred to as Monjaya, is a monument located in Semampir, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia near the Port of Tanjung Perak. It is a statue of an Indonesian Navy officer wearing Ceremonial Service Dress, complete with his sword of honor. The officer depicted staring into the ocean, looking as if he is challenging the tides. It is meant to represent the preparedness of the Indonesian Navy for any scenario.
