Sukhothai Football Club () is a Thai professional association football club based in Sukhothai province. The club currently play in the Thai League 1. Sukhothai represents the Sukhothai Province mainly known for being the Sukhothai Kingdom, first Kingdom of Thailand. Their main team colors are red and white and their away colors are black and green. History Early history Sukhothai Football Club was established in 2009 and entered the Regional League Northern Division. They finished their first ever season in the Regional League Northern Division in 7th place out of 11 teams. In 2014, after 6 years in the third tier division, Sukhothai got the promotion to 2015 Thai Division 1 League. In 2015, the newly promotion team Sukhothai had a successful campaign in Thai Division 1 League with the finishing in the unexpected third place of the final standing. Thalay Luang Stadium
Thalay Luang Stadium () is a football stadium in Sukhothai Province, Thailand. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Sukhothai. The stadium can hold up to 9,500 capacity. Background Thalay Luang Stadium is built in 2013 where Sukhothai Provincial Administration Organization wanted to used the stadium as the primary stadium for Thai League 1 club Sukhothai. In 2015, the club moved from Sukhothai Institute of Physical Education Stadium to the Thalay Luang Stadium. In 2017, the stadium is approved by Asian Football Federation to host the AFC Champions League games. After several months of improvement, the 8,000-seated Thalay Luang Stadium finally matches the AFC stadium criteria.
