Stryn is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in the Counties of Norway, county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Stryn (village), Stryn. The municipality is located along the innermost part of the Nordfjorden (Sogn og Fjordane), Nordfjorden. Stryn Sommerski
Stryn Sommerski () is a ski resort in the municipality of Stryn, Norway. The ski resort is located along the 100-year-old national tourist route, Gamle Strynefjellsveien (), 45 km East of Stryn city centre. From Oslo Int'l Airport Gardermoen it's about a 5 hours drive to the North. The ski resort opened in 1972 and is the largest summer ski area in Northern Europe. It is based near an arm of the glacier Jostedalsbreen but the skiing area is mainly outside the glacier. Innvik Municipality
Innvik is a former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county in Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until 1965. Innvik is located in the present-day Stryn Municipality in Vestland county, encompassing about the western third of the present municipality. Innvik included both sides of the Nordfjorden, from Randabygda in the west to just west of the village of Stryn. It stretched from the border with Hornindal Municipality in the north, through the Oldedalen valley all the way to the Jostedalsbreen glacier in the south. History The municipality was established as ''Indvigen'' formannskapsdistrikt on 1 January 1838. In 1843, the eastern part of the municipality was separated from Innvik to form the new Stryn Municipality, leaving Innvik with 2,675 inhabitants. Stryn is the administrative centre of Stryn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the shore of a small bay off of the main Nordfjorden. Oppstrynsvatn
Oppstrynsvatn (also known as ''Oppstrynsvatnet'', ''Strynevatnet'', or ''Strynevatn'') is a lake in the municipality of Stryn in Vestland county, Norway. It is located about east of the village of Stryn (village), Stryn (the administrative centre of the municipality). The villages of Flo, Norway, Flo, Oppstryn, and Erdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Erdal are located on the shores of the lake. The lake has an area of and is surrounded by many large mountains and glaciers which feed into the lake. The main outflow of the lake is the river Stryneelva which flows west into the Nordfjorden (Sogn og Fjordane), Nordfjorden. Some of the local attractions include the Jostedalsbreen nasjonalparksenter, Jostedalsbreen National Park, the mountain Skåla (Sogn og Fjordane), Skåla, and the glacier Tindefjellbreen. Flo, Norway
Flo is a small village in the municipality of Stryn in Vestland county, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the lake Oppstrynsvatn, about east of the municipal center of Stryn. Directly south across the lake is the Jostedalsbreen nasjonalparksenter, a visitor center for the nearby Jostedalsbreen National Park. Flo has become famous as the ancestral home of national and international footballers, all of whom are related: The brothers Kjell Rune Flo, Jostein Flo, Tore André Flo and Jarle Flo, all of whom grew up in nearby Stryn, as well as their cousin Håvard Flo who grew up in Flo. In addition Kjell Rune's son Ulrik Flo and Håvard's nephew Per Egil Flo have played for Sogndal Fotball in the Tippeligaen. Per Egil now plays for Slavia Prague. Loen, Norway
Loen is a village in Stryn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the inner part of the Nordfjord region, at the easternmost end of the Nordfjorden (Sogn og Fjordane), Nordfjorden. Loen is located about north of the village of Olden, Norway, Olden and about southeast of the municipal center of Stryn (village), Stryn. The lake Lovatnet is located just to the southeast of the village of Loen. The Hotel Alexandra (Stryn, Norway/Leon), Hotel Alexandra was established in Loen in 1884. Tore André Flo
Tore André Flo (born 15 June 1973) is a Norwegian professional football coach and a former striker who previously was the manager of 1. divisjon club Sogndal. He was capped 76 times, scoring 23 goals for Norway, and represented his country in 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000, and scored Norway's first goal when Norway won 2–1 against Brazil and advanced to the second round of the 1998 World Cup. During his professional career, he played for Sogndal, Tromsø and Brann in Tippeligaen, before he moved abroad and played for Chelsea. After a successful spell with the English club, he was sold to Rangers for £12 million and became the most expensive Norwegian player. Flo later had spells at Sunderland, Siena, Vålerenga and Leeds United before he announced his retirement in March 2008. Nordfjorden (Sogn Og Fjordane)
Nordfjorden is the sixth longest fjord in Norway. It flows through the municipalities of Stryn, Gloppen, Stad, Bremanger, and Kinn, and it is the central feature of the entire Nordfjord region which makes up the northern third of the county. The long fjord stretches from Husevågøy island in Kinn Municipality to the village of Loen in Stryn Municipality. The fjord starts as runoff from the Jostedalsbreen, Europe's largest mainland glacier, in the east and it flows west, emptying into the ocean just south of the Stadlandet peninsula. The mouth of the fjord lies between the large islands of Vågsøy and Bremangerlandet (with the smaller island of Husevågøy lying in the middle of the mouth). There are several smaller fjords which branch off the main Nordfjorden: Eidsfjorden, Ålfotfjorden, Hyefjorden, and Gloppefjorden.
