Stocksbridge is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish, it is encircled to the north and east by the southern edge of the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, although since 1974 it lies within the borders of the City of Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, England. Stocksbridge Town Hall
Stocksbridge Town Hall is a municipal building in Manchester Road in Stocksbridge, a town in South Yorkshire in England. The town hall, which was previously the offices and meeting place of Stocksbridge Urban District Council, is now the home of Stocksbridge Town Council as well as other community organisations. History After significant industrial growth in the mid-19th century, largely associated with the steel industry, a local board of health was formed in 1872. The local board initially established its offices in a row of terraced cottages sloping down what is now Fox Valley Way. Stocksbridge became an urban district in 1894 and, in the mid-1920s, civic leaders decided to erect a new town hall just to the southeast of the old council offices. Penistone and Stocksbridge is a constituency in South Yorkshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2024 by Marie Tidball, a Labour MP. Bolsterstone is a village in South Yorkshire, England, south of Stocksbridge, and 8.5 miles to the northwest of the City of Sheffield and within the city borough. It lies on the border of the Peak District national park. Bolsterstone had a population of 386 in 2011. Deepcar is a village located on the eastern fringe of the town of Stocksbridge, South Yorkshire, England. The Little Don River also known as the Porter, is a tributary of the River Don in South Yorkshire, England. Arising on the Langsett Moors in the northern Peak District, the Little Don River feeds the Langsett and Underbank Reservoirs. It runs through the town of Stocksbridge before joining the River Don. A section of the river has been designated as a site of special scientific interest since 1977. The site is of considerable importance as it is a proposed reference example for various subdivisions of the Carboniferous. It is one of 35 sites of special scientific interest in South Yorkshire. Course The Little Don rises as a large number of streams flowing northwards from Howden Edge, close to the contour, on Rushbed Moor and Harden Moor, which unite and then flow eastwards. Ewden Valley
Ewden Valley is a valley in the civil parish of Bradfield in the Stocksbridge and Upper Don electoral ward of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Ewden Village is located between the Moor Hall and Broomhead reservoirs, close to and south of Bolsterstone, within the civil parish of Stocksbridge. Work on the construction of the two reservoirs was started by Sheffield Corporation in 1913. The reservoirs' construction site was served by the now closed Ewden Railway which connected with the Great Central Railway's Woodhead line in Wharncliffe Wood. A timber built village was constructed to house workers working on the Morehall and Broomhead reservoirs. The village was completed in 1929. By 1969 only 15 of over 70 buildings were occupied, and by the 21st century the village was practically abandoned. By 2008 a single worker's cottage remained from the original navvy village.
