Stealth Technology
Stealth technology, also termed low observable technology (LO technology), is a sub-discipline of military tactics and passive and active electronic countermeasures. The term covers a range of military technology, methods used to make personnel, Stealth aircraft, aircraft, Stealth ship, ships, submarines, missiles, satellites, and Stealth ground vehicle, ground vehicles less visible (ideally invisible) to radar, Thermographic camera, infrared, sonar and other detection methods. It corresponds to military camouflage for these parts of the electromagnetic spectrum (i.e., multi-spectral camouflage). Development of modern stealth technologies in the United States began in 1958, where earlier attempts to prevent radar tracking of its Lockheed U-2, U-2 spy planes during the Cold War by the Soviet Union had been unsuccessful. Designers turned to developing a specific shape for planes that tended to reduce detection by redirecting electromagnetic radiation waves from radars. Radiation-a ...

Stealth (transgender)
In the context of gender, passing is someone being perceived as a gender they identify as or are attempting to be seen as, rather than their sex assigned at birth. Historically, this was common among women who served in occupations where they were prohibited, such as in combat roles in the military. For transgender people, it is when a person is perceived as a cisgender person of their gender instead of the sex they were assigned at birth. For example, a transgender man is passing if he is perceived as a cisgender man. The appropriateness of the term ''passing'', and the desirability of blending into society, are debated within the transgender community. A trans person who is perceived as cisgender may face less prejudice, harassment, and risk of violence, as well as better employment opportunities. This is sometimes termed ''passing privilege''. Terminology Gender attribution Gender attribution is the process by which an observer decides which gender they believe another ...

Stealth Tax
A stealth tax is a tax levied in a way that is largely unnoticed, or not recognized as a traditional tax. The phrase was generally used in the United Kingdom by Conservatives against the New Labour government's behaviour and has been used in British politics since the 1990s. Origins On 16 September 1996, the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) demanded a reverse to a tax on UK pension funds' dividends. Anne Robinson, the director general of the NAPF said pension funds are being "taxed by stealth". The exact phrasing "stealth tax" has been in British political use since 1998 when it was used to refer to tax increases that apparently circumvented the 1997 New Labour manifesto commitment that "over the five years of a Labour government ... there will be no increase in the basic or top rates of income tax". Anne Segall of ''The Daily Telegraph'' claimed on 17 January, 1998, that "taxes will rise by £7 billion this year ... as a result of a variety of measures introduced ...

Stealth Mode
In business, stealth mode is a company's temporary state of secretiveness, either in total stealth mode when everything about the company is kept secret, or in-company stealth mode which is usually undertaken to avoid alerting competitors to a pending product launch or another business initiative by keeping that specific thing covert. When an entire company is in stealth mode it may attempt to mislead the public about its true company goals. For example, it may give code names to its pending products. It may operate a corporate website that does not disclose its personnel or location. New companies may operate under a temporary "stealth name" that does not disclose its field of business. To enforce stealthy behavior, companies often require employees to sign non-disclosure agreements, and strictly control who may speak with the media. At the in-company stealth mode level, a stealth mode can also refer to a new project or idea that is kept secret, not just from external parties, ...

Crypsis
In ecology, crypsis is the ability of an animal or a plant to avoid observation or detection by other animals. It may be part of a predation strategy or an antipredator adaptation. Methods include camouflage, nocturnality, subterranean lifestyle and mimicry. Crypsis can involve visual, olfactory (with pheromones) or auditory concealment. When it is visual, the term cryptic coloration, effectively a synonym for animal camouflage, is sometimes used, but many different methods of camouflage are employed in nature. Overview There is a strong evolutionary pressure for prey animals to avoid predators through camouflage, and for predators to be able to detect camouflaged prey. There can be a self-perpetuating coevolution, in the shape of an evolutionary arms race, between the perceptive abilities of animals attempting to detect the cryptic animal and the cryptic characteristics of the hiding species. Methods Methods of crypsis include (visual) camouflage, nocturnality, ...
