Squash At The 2006 Commonwealth Games
The Squash at the 2006 Commonwealth Games was played for the most part at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Singles play took place from March 16 to 20 (Men's and Women's), and the doubles was contested from March 21 to 26 (Men's, Women's, and Mixed). A high number of multiple entries by countries in the doubles events occurred because players could enter both the men's or women's events as well as the mixed doubles, and countries could put in as many entries as they chose to, as long as their players were in one of the singles events. The most medals one player could win at the Games was three: one in singles, one in men's or women's doubles, and one in mixed. Australians David Palmer, Rachael Grinham and Natalie Grinham all achieved this feat, with Natalie Grinham winning three gold medals. David Palmer (squash Player)
David Troy Palmer (born 28 June 1976 in Lithgow, New South Wales) is an Australian retired professional squash player. He won the Super Series finals in 2002, the World Open in 2002 and 2006; the British Open in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008; and the Australian Open in 2008. He attained World No. 1 ranking in September 2001 and again (for one month) in February 2006. Ong Beng Hee
Ong Beng Hee (; born 4 February 1980) is a Malaysian former professional squash player and coach. Between 2000 and 2006, he won four consecutive Asian Championship titles. In 2002 and 2006 he won gold medals at the Asian Games. He won 11 Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour titles out of 19 final appearances, and earned a world ranking of No. 7, a career-best. This record has made him Malaysia's most successful male squash player in history. He retired in July 2015. Donna Lobban, also known as Donna Belle Urquhart, (born 19 December 1986) is an Australian retired professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of 13 in May 2011. Early life Lobban was born Donna Belle Urquhart. Career Donna started playing squash from the age of 6. As a junior, she won five Australian Junior titles and was the runner-up at the Scottish and British Junior Opens in 2002 & 2003. Laura Jane Massaro (née Lengthorn; born 2 November 1983) is an English retired professional squash player. She was ranked number 1 in the world. Biography She was born in Great Yarmouth and attended Albany High School, Chorley, which is now called Albany Academy. In July 2007, she married Danny Massaro and became Laura Lengthorn-Massaro. She subsequently dropped 'Lengthorn' from her name and is now known professionally as Laura Massaro. She won her first top-level title at the German Open in 2004 and went on to become British Open champion in 2013 and the World Champion also in 2013, so becoming the first Englishwoman to hold both titles at once. Jaclyn Hawkes (born 3 December 1982 in Hong Kong) is a New Zealand professional squash (sport), squash player. Hawkes grew up in Hong Kong and lived there until she was 15 when she moved to New Zealand. She started playing squash aged five because her mother Julie Hawkes was a New Zealand representative and is an ex-World Masters champion. While Hawkes played squash when she was younger she was much more keen on playing tennis (her father Richard Hawkes (tennis), Richard was a Davis Cup player for New Zealand), hockey and netball.
