This is a list of special forces units in Iranian Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Armed Forces and Iranian police, police. The name can refer to members of regular units who have successfully completed Commando or Ranger training courses and Marines, marines trained as Frogman, or the hand-selected and highly trained members serving in Special forces, special forces. Terminology ''Niruye vizheh'' (نیروی ویژه), plural ''niruhaye vizheh'' (نیروهای ویژه) is the Persian term for "Special forces, special force". This term is used in the official name for the 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade. ''Takavar'' (تکاور), plural ''Takavaran'' (تکاوران), literally meaning "attack-trooper", is the equivalent of "commando". The word "Commando" (کماندو) is also used in Persian. Special forces or special operations forces (SOF) are military units trained to conduct special operations. NATO has defined special operations as "military activities conducted by specially designated, organized, selected, trained and equipped forces using unconventional techniques and modes of employment". Saberin Unit
The Saberin Takavar Brigade (; meaning ''Steadfasts Commando Battalions'') also known as Saberin Unit is an elite Takavar unit in the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. It is considered one of the best Takavar units in the Iranian Armed Forces, with decades of military and combat experience both at home and especially in overseas operations in neighboring countries. It is one of the most exclusive units in the IRGC, having at least 6,000 members, all of them volunteers and handpicked from the best and most capable units in the IRGC Ground, Air and Sea forces. Together with the Quds Force operatives and the Sepah Navy Special Force marines, they are considered the elite, top tier unit of the IRGC, and the best soldiers within the Corps. Shahroud
Shahrud ( , also written as: shahrood , shahroud) is a city in the Central District of Shahrud County, Semnan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district. History Archeological excavations in different parts of Shahrud Plain indicate the existence of villages in this area during 7-5 millennium BC. The town was visited by Nasser Khosrow Qubadiani, the Iranian poet of the 12th century, and mentioned by him as the center of the Qomis province. The Fars News Agency is a news agency in Iran managed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), one of the three branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran Armed Forces. While it describes itself as "Iran's leading independent news agency", it is widely described by Western news media to be a "semi-official" news agency of the Government of Iran. The Special Unit of NEDSA (), also known as Sepah Navy Special Force (S.N.S.F.) (), is a Takavar unit in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy stationed in the Greater Farur Island of the Persian Gulf. Mashregh News (, ) is a non-governmental news website based in Tehran, Iran. It has been described as "close to the security and intelligence organizations" but till now there have been no clear documents to prove claims.
