Spanish Hip Hop
Latin hip hop (also known as Latin rap) is a subgenre of Hip-hop, hip hop music that is recorded by Spanish-speaking artists in the Caribbean, North America, Central America, South America, and Spain. Latin hip hop in the United States West Coast In the late 1980s and early 1990s, most Latin rap came from New York and the West Coast of the United States. Due to the heaviest Puerto Rican migration to New York City in the '50s, during the '70s, the birth of Latin Hip-Hop involved Latinos from the Caribbean island. Early Hip-Hop from the United States had a signicant influence on early Puerto Rican Hip-Hop pioneers such as Ruben DJDJ Negro and Vico C, Vico-C. Hip-hop or hip hop (originally disco rap) is a popular music genre that emerged in the early 1970s from the African-American community of New York City. The style is characterized by its synthesis of a wide range of musical techniques. Hip-hop includes rapping often enough that the terms can be used synonymously. However, "hip-hop" more properly denotes an entire subculture. Other key markers of the genre are the disc jockey, turntablism, scratching, beatboxing, and instrumental tracks. Reggaeton (, ) is a modern style of popular music, popular and electronic music that originated in Panamanian reggaetón, Panama during the late 1980s, and which rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s through a plethora of Puerto Ricans, Puerto Rican musicians. Corridos Tumbados
Corridos tumbados (), also known as trap corridos, is a subgenre of regional Mexican music, specifically of a corrido, with musical elements of a narcocorrido and rap music. Puerto Rican Hip-hop
Puerto Rican hip-hop or Puerto Rican rap (also referred to as rap/hip-hop locally or hip-hop en Español in Spanish) is an underground subgenre of hip-hop music and conscious hip-hop that originated in Puerto Rico. At its peak in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was one of the most popular styles of underground music in Puerto Rico sold by the mixtape. Puerto Rican hip-hop during its ascension in the late 1980s, and even during its earliest form, explored and touched on taboo and non-taboo societal themes in Puerto Rico like drug abuse, rising crime, governmental corruption, STDs, and sexual abuse. Chicano rap is a subgenre of hip hop that embodies aspects of the Mexican American or Chicano culture. Merenhouse
Merenhouse, Merenrap or Electronic merengue, Mambo/Mambo de Calle is a style of Dominican Merengue music derived by blending it with dancehall, hip hop and house, particularly latin house. The mix of Latin, house and dancehall music started in New York City in the late 1980s. Merenhouse usually combines rap singing (talk-singing) with actual singing. It has instruments that are typically in Merengue music, such as saxophones, trumpets, accordions, bass, guitar, güira, and tambora, a kind of drum. However, it can be combined with electronic sounds or even electronic sounds sampled from the actual instruments (much like house music).
