The Southern Combination Football League (named Premier Sports Southern Combination Football League) is a association football, football league broadly covering the counties of East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and London, South West London, England. The league consists of eight divisions – three for first teams (Premier Division, Division One and Division Two), two for Under 23 teams (East Division and West Division) and three for Under 18 teams (East Division, Central Division and West Division). History Formed in 1920 as the Sussex County Football League, started with just one league with 12 teams. By the end of the 1929–30 season, six of the original twelve teams remained, having played in every campaign since the competition began. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from East Anglia, the South and Midlands of England, and South Wales. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 87 clubs which are divided into four divisions. The Central and South Divisions are at step 3 of the National League System (NLS), and are feeder divisions, mainly to the National League South but also to the National League North. The 2020–21 Southern Combination Football League season was the 96th in the history of the competition, which lies at levels 9 and 10 of the English football league system. This season also marked 100 years since the league was first formed, with Eastbourne Town, Newhaven and Shoreham being the only teams still in the league to have played in the first season. The club allocations for Steps 5 and 6 were announced by The Football Association (The FA) for the 2020–21 season on 21 July 2020 and remained unchanged after the 2019–20 season was abandoned on 26 March due to the coronavirus pandemic. On 18 July 2020 the FA released a statement that football would provisionally start on 5 September subject to spectators being able to watch games. 2019–20 Southern Combination Football League
The 2019–20 Southern Combination Football League season was the 95th in the history of the competition, which lies at levels 9 and 10 of the English football league system. The provisional club allocations for steps 5 and 6 were first announced by the FA on 19 May 2019. This season was also the first season the sin bin rule applied to this level of football. League suspension and season abandonment On 16 March 2020, both the Football Association and the Sussex County Football Association announced that all football competitions for Non-League football would be put on hold until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 1962–63 Sussex County Football League season was the 38th in the history of the competition. This season was abandoned during the winter of 1962–63, when atrocious weather across the country led to postponements of football matches. This was difficult situation in the Sussex County League as some teams had completed with 21 or 22 games whilst others only completed 13 or 14 times.
