Rugby League
Rugby league football, commonly known as rugby league in English-speaking countries and rugby 13/XIII in non-Anglophone Europe, is a contact sport, full-contact sport played by two teams of thirteen players on a rectangular Rugby league playing field, field measuring wide and long with H-shaped posts at both ends. Clive Churchill
Clive Bernard Churchill Order of Australia, AM (21 January 1927 – 9 August 1985) was an Australians, Australian professional rugby league footballer and coach in the mid-20th century. An Australian Kangaroos, Australian international and New South Wales Rugby League team, New South Wales and Queensland Maroons, Queensland interstate representative , he played the majority of his club football with and later coached the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He won five premierships with the club as a player and three more as coach. Bryan Fletcher (rugby League)
Bryan Fletcher (born 12 April 1974) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australian international representative second-row-forward, he played his club football in Australia with the Sydney Roosters and the South Sydney Rabbitohs, before a stint in England with Wigan. Sydney Roosters Fletcher's junior club was the Paddington Colts in the Eastern Suburbs District Junior Rugby League. He started his top-level career at the Sydney Roosters in the second row in the 1997 ARL season. Despite only 24 National Rugby League appearances, Fletcher was selected for the Australian team to compete in the end of season 1999 Rugby League Tri-Nations tournament. Harry Finch
Harry Alfred Finch (1907–1949) was a professional rugby league footballer in Australia's leading competition – the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership in the 1920s and 1930s. Finch was also an Australian international who played for both the Eastern Suburbs and South Sydney clubs. Playing career Born Sydney, Australia and educated at Marist Brothers High School at Darlinghurst, Harry Finch, a , made his first grade debut with Eastern Suburbs in the year 1925 as an 18-year-old. He played 16 matches with Easts' in the years (1925-6). Terry Fahey (born 20 January 1954) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Eastern Suburbs Roosters and Canberra Raiders clubs. Denis Donoghue (rugby League)
Denis Reginald Donoghue (1926–1993) was a champion Australian rugby league footballer, coach and administrator who starred in seven straight grand finals, winning 5, with the South Sydney Rabbitohs during their second 'Golden Era' (1949-1955), represented Sydney, New South Wales and Australia during the years of 1948–1957. He also fought as a boxer. Playing career Club career Returning from the War where he was a Royal Australian Navy Boxing champion, Donoghue commenced the shortest lower grade career in South Sydney history in 1948. Jim Davis (rugby League)
Jim Davis (1887–1934) was a pioneer Australian rugby league footballer. He was one of his country's first national representative players making the 1908–09 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and then had a patchy first-grade club career in the first decade of the code's popularity in Sydney. Career Club Davis had been a South Sydney rugby union junior before he joined the new South Sydney rugby league club in its inaugural 1908 season. He initially played three seasons with the club and was sent off in the 1910 Grand Final played against Newtown. He played the 1911 NSWRFL season with North Sydney before playing three seasons with the Glebe club. His top-grade career finished up back at Souths in 1918-19 before concluding with a country stint at Parkes. Les Davidson (born 3 April 1963) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. He played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and represented at both the State and national levels. His position of choice on the field was or . Playing career Davidson made his first grade début for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 1985. At the end of the 1986 NSWRL season, he became the first South Sydney player in over a decade to be selected for Australia when he went on the 1986 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and France. Steve Darmody
Steve Darmody (1890–1969) was a pioneer Australian who saw active service in the British army in World War I. He had been an Australian national representative rugby league player and toured with the Australian national team on their 1911–12 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain. Career A promising hurdler in his youth, Darmody joined the South Sydney Club in 1910 initially as a goal-kicking winger. He was chosen for the 1911–12 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain as versatile forward. He played in six minor matches on the tour, kicking nine goals. Following the tour, he stayed in England and along with Herb Gilbert and Jim Devereux he joined Hull FC for whom he made 89 appearances between 1912 and 1914.
