While based on Intel processors, it uses an in-house architecture making it incompatible with IBM PC–compatible, IBM clones; some PC-98 computers used NEC's own NEC V30, V30 processor. The platform established NEC's dominance in the Japanese personal computer market, and, by 1999, more than 18 million units had been sold. While NEC did not market these specific machines in the West, it sold the NEC APC series, which had similar hardware to early PC-98 models. The PC-98 was initially released as a business-oriented personal computer which had backward compatibility with the successful PC-8800 series. The range of the series was expanded, and in the 1990s it was used in a variety of industry fields including education and hobbies. NEC succeeded in attracting third-party suppliers and a wide range of users, and the PC ...

Naga The Serpent
is a fictional character in the light novel, anime, manga, radio drama and game versions of Hajime Kanzaka's media franchise ''Slayers'', who was introduced in '' Dragon Magazine'' in 1990. She is also often known as Naga the White Serpent, which is a more literal translation from Japanese ( 白蛇JP, "white snake"), and an early English version by A.D. Vision had her name transliterated as "Nahga". The name she is best known by is in reality an alias of Princess Gracia Ul Naga Saillune (Japanese: グレイシアウルナーガセイルーン ''Gureishia Uru Nāga Seirūn''). The character has great magical powers and an unstable but resilient personality. She is particularly obsessed with a fellow wandering sorceress and the central character of ''Slayers'', Lina Inverse. While occasionally referred to as Lina's sidekick and traveling partner, Naga's arrogance and self-imagined rivalry made her just as likely to antagonize Lina during the course of any story. Naga is a few years ...

Gourry Gabriev
is a fictional character from the Japanese media franchise ''Slayers''. In it, he is a mighty yet dimwitted mercenary swordsman who becomes a travelling companion and self-appointed guardian of the protagonist sorceress Lina Inverse. Despite being one of the most prominent character within the series (along with Lina and Naga the Serpent from the prequel stories), he provides comic relief even within a series that is already primarily a comedy to begin with. Gourry is portrayed as heroic, having a calm demeanor and a chivalrous attitude that serves as a foil to Lina Inverse's fiery temper tantrums and greedy disposition. He is also characterized by his lack of intelligence and his tendency to put things bluntly without any tact, occasionally hurting the feelings of others or humiliating Lina without meaning to. It has been implied his relative lack of development is due to the fact Gourry probably is not very proud of his past. Character Characterization and appearances Aged aro ...
