Sievierodonetsk Raion
Sievierodonetsk Raion (; ) or Siverskodonetsk Raion () is a Raions of Ukraine, raion (district) of Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. It was created in July 2020 as part of the reform of administrative divisions of Ukraine. The center of the raion is the city of Sievierodonetsk. Population: On 19 September 2024, the Verkhovna Rada voted to rename Sievierodonetsk Raion to Siverskodonetsk Raion. Subdivisions The raion is divided up into six hromadas: *Hirske urban hromada; *Kreminna urban hromada; *Lysychansk urban hromada; *Popasna urban hromada; *Rubizhne urban hromada; *Sievierodonetsk urban hromada. Raions Of Ukraine
A raion (; ), often translated as district, is the second-level Administrative divisions of Ukraine, administrative division in Ukraine. Raions were created in a 1922 administrative reform of the Soviet Union, to which Ukraine, as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, belonged. On 17 July 2020, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) approved an administrative reform to merge most of the 490 raions, along with the "City of regional significance (Ukraine), cities of regional significance", which were previously outside the raions, into just 136 reformed raions. Borivske () is a rural settlement in Sievierodonetsk Raion (district) in Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, about NWbW of the centre of Luhansk city. Population: Until 18 July 2020, Borivske was located in Sievierodonetsk Municipality. The municipality was abolished that day as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine and the number of raions of Luhansk Oblast was reduced to eight, of which only four were controlled by the government. Sievierodonetsk Municipality was merged into Sievierodonetsk Raion. Since 25 June 2022, Borivske is occupied by Russian regular and proxy forces. Katerynivka, Sievierodonetsk Raion, Luhansk Oblast
Katerynivka (; ) is a village in Sievierodonetsk Raion of Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine. The village came under control of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic in June 2022. Chervonopopivka
Chervonopopivka () is a village in Sievierodonetsk Raion, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. History The village of Chervonopopivka was historically located in the Kreminna Raion which, as of 18 July 2020, was abolished and merged into the Sievierodonetsk Raion. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the village was captured and occupied by Russian forces in March 2022. Ukrainian forces would recapture the village in October 2022. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the village was recaptured by Russian forces on 11 December 2022, but on 15 December the village was recaptured by Ukraine according to ISW and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Novotoshkivske
Novotoshkivske (; ) is a rural settlement in Sievierodonetsk Raion (district) in Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at 52 km WNW from the centre of Luhansk city. Population: People from the town include Olena Tokar who made a career in Europe as a lyric soprano. The War in Donbas, that started in mid-April 2014, has brought along both civilian and military casualties. One Ukrainian soldier was killed in a skirmish near the settlement in the course of an infiltration attempt through the demarcation line by pro-Russian forces supported by 120 mm mortar fire on 1 December 2016.
