ShortCutz Amsterdam
ShortCutz Amsterdam (ShortCutz AMS) is an annual film festival promoting short films in Amsterdam, Netherlands held the whole year through. Festival ShortCutz Amsterdam is a film festival held the whole year through, promoting Dutch short films in The Netherlands. Every week has two short films competing. After the end of the calendar month the jury will select the winner of the month. The winner of the month is then nominated for a Mr. Zee Award and the winners will be presented at the end of January at the ShortCutz Amsterdam Annual Award Ceremony at EYE Film Institute Netherlands. Winners of the Mr. Zee award will receive funding for their next film project, special screenings in cinema's and a distribution deal. A unique aspect of the festival is that jury members are encouraged to give their personal feedback on the selected films. Roel Reiné (born 15 July 1970 in Eindhoven) is a Dutch film director. Occasionally he uses the alias John Rebel (''Bear'', ''Wolf Town''). His production company is called Rebel Film. Elise Schaap (born 21 September 1982) is a Dutch actress. Career Elise Schaap acts in television series and films. Hany Abu-Assad (; born 11 October 1961) is an Israeli and Dutch film director and screenwriter of Palestinian origin. He has received two Academy Award nominations: in 2006 for his film '' Paradise Now'', and again in 2013 for his film '' Omar''. Early life Abu-Assad was born into a Palestinian family in 1961 in Nazareth, Israel. Jos Stelling (born 16 July 1945) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. Career He made his debut as a film director in 1974 with ''Mariken van Nieumegen'', which was selected for the official Cannes competition in 1975. In 1981 he founded the Dutch Film Days a festival for Dutch directors to give them the possibility to show their films and to create an informal platform for the filmmakers. Heddy Honigmann (1 October 1951 – 21 May 2022) was a Peruvian-born Dutch film director of fictional and documentary films. Early life and education Honigmann was born on 1 October 1951 in Lima, Peru, to Jewish refugees. Her mother, Sarah Pach Miller, an actress and homemaker, was from Poland; her father, Witold Honigmann Weiss, an artist and illustrator, was from Vienna. Career Most of Honigmann's films were Dutch productions, but were made in a variety of languages. Frans Weisz (born 23 July 1938) is a Dutch film director. He has directed more than 30 films since 1964. His 1975 film ''Red Sien'' was entered into the 9th Moscow International Film Festival. His film ''Havinck'' was screened in the Un Certain Regard section the 1988 Cannes Film Festival. His 1993 film ''The Betrayed (1993 film), The Betrayed'' was entered into the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. Weisz is Jewish. During the war he was hiding with his parents on a farm in Limburg (Netherlands), Limburg. They were discovered, Frans managed to escape but his parents were captured. They were transported to Auschwitz concentration camp, his mother survived, his father did not.
