Vladimir Ivanovich Shcherbakov (; 14July 19014November 1981) was a Soviet general of the Red Army during World War II. Biography Born in a village in the Oryol Governorate (today in the Izmalkovsky District in Lipetsk Oblast), he entered the Red Army in 1919 by attending the officers course of the South-Western Front in Serpukhov. As part of the course, he participated in the fighting against the forces of General Denikin in the Kalach-na-Donu area in the period May–June 1919, and subsequently against the Cossack Mamontov Raid in the Yelets region. In July 1920 he took part in the Soviet-Polish War, fighting against the Poles and the Ukrainian forces of Simon Petlyura with the south-western front of General Yegorov, reaching the rank of company commander. Vadim Petrovich Shcherbakov () was an officer in the Soviet Air Defense Forces (PVO Strany). As a senior lieutenant, he was serving in the 260th "Bryansky" Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment. In 1966–1967 Shcherbakov's whole regiment was temporarily assigned as a Group of Soviet Military Advisors in Vietnam ( Группа советских военных специалистов во Вьетнаме) and in March 1966 was transferred to North Vietnam, where the regiment was tasked with establishing a training center and training the NVA's 274th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment for combat duty. In North Vietnam Shcherbakov served as a SAM operator/instructor, and specialized as a fire control operator during combat deployments. Sergey Petrovich Shcherbakov (; 1961–62 – 26 September 1988) was a Soviet serial killer and rapist. In 1985, he killed 6 people: five women, one of whom was pregnant, and a teenage girl, all in Leninsk-Kuznetsky. He was eventually sentenced to death and executed for his crimes.
