Sengileyevsky Uyezd (''Сенгилеевский уезд'') was one of the subdivisions of the Simbirsk Governorate of the Russian Empire. It was situated in the southeastern part of the governorate. Its administrative centre was Sengiley. Demographics At the time of the Russian Empire Census of 1897, Sengileyevsky Uyezd had a population of 151,726. Of these, 78.9% spoke Russian language, Russian, 10.7% Mordvinic languages, Mordvin, 4.6% Chuvash language, Chuvash, 4.5% Tatar language, Tatar, 0.9% Belarusian language, Belarusian, 0.2% Latvian language, Latvian and 0.2% Estonian language, Estonian as their native language. Simbirsk Governorate () was an administrative-territorial unit ('' guberniya'') of the Russian Empire and the Russian SFSR, which existed from 1796 to 1928. Its administrative center was in the city of Simbirsk, renamed Ulyanovsk in 1924 (likewise, Simbirsk Governorate was named Ulyanovsk Governorate).
