Scouting
Scouting or the Scout Movement is a youth social movement, movement which became popularly established in the first decade of the twentieth century. It follows the Scout method of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, Backpacking (wilderness), backpacking and sports. Girl Guides
Girl Guides (or Girl Scouts in the United States and some other countries) are organisations within the Scout Movement originally and largely still for girls and women only. The Girl Guides began in 1910 with the formation of Girlguiding, The Girl Guides Association in the United Kingdom, following which, similar girl-only organisations were formed in other countries. Many girls and some organisations preferred to use the name Girl Scouts. Scouting And Guiding Federation Of Turkey
Scouting and Guiding Federation of Turkey (''Türkiye İzcilik Federasyonu'', TİF) is the national Scouting and Girl Guides, Guiding federation of Turkey. It serves 33,974 Scouts (as of 2011) and 2,883 Guides (as of 2006). The federation is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement since 1950, and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts since 1987. History The start of Scouting in Turkey is attributed to the brothers Ahmet Robenson, Ahmet and Abdurrahman Robenson, who were sports teachers at the Galatasaray High School, Galatasaray and Kabataş High School, Kabataş high schools in Constantinople (today: Istanbul) in 1909, and to Nafi Arif Kansu and Ethem Nejat, with first units organized at Darüşşafaka High School, Darüşşafaka, Galatasaray, and İstanbul high schools, during the late Ottoman Empire, Ottoman period.
