Santa Catarina do Fogo is a ''concelho'' (municipality) of Cape Verde. Situated in the southeastern part of the island of Fogo, it covers 32% of the island area (152.95 km2), and is home to 14% of its population (5,299 at the 2010 census). Its seat is the city Cova Figueira. The Municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo was created in 2005; before 2005, it was a parish of the Municipality of São Filipe. Administrative Divisions Of Cabo Verde
The territory of Cape Verde is divided into 22 ''concelhos'' (Municipality, municipalities), and subdivided into 32 ''freguesias'' (equivalent to civil parish). In Portuguese language usage, there are two words to distinguish the territory and the administrative organ. Administratively, right below the government, there are the ''municípios'' (municipalities), which administer the ''concelhos''. Therefore, the ''concelhos'' are the first-level administrative subdivision in Cape Verde. Each municipality has an ''Assembleia Municipal'' (municipal assembly, the legislative body) and a ''Câmara Municipal'' (municipal chamber, the executive body). Every four years elections are held for the Assembleia Municipal, the Câmara Municipal and the President of the Câmara Municipal. Vila Nova Da Barquinha
Vila Nova da Barquinha () is a municipality in the district of Santarém in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 7,322, in an area of 49.53 km2. The village of Vila Nova da Barquinha, which is the seat of the municipality, has about 3500 inhabitants. The present Mayor is Vítor Miguel Pombeiro, elected by the Socialist Party. History and sights Although some villages of Vila Nova da Barquinha are ancient, the development of the region is strongly related to the Reconquista period, when the river Tagus, which flows through the South of the municipality, was the border between the dominions of Christians and Moors. Miranda do Corvo (), officially the Town of Miranda do Corvo (), is a town and a Concelho, municipality in the Portugal, Portuguese Coimbra District, district of Coimbra, with an area of and 2011 population of 13,098 inhabitants. History The first reference to the region of Miranda do Corvo arrived at the end of the 10th century, although evidence of archaeological evidence to human settlement extend further back in history. The 10th century document that referenced these lands were associated with the Monastery of Lorvão in 998, that identified a military structure in Miranda do Corvo, that included tower. The African Party for Independence of Cape Verde (, PAICV) is a democratic socialist political party in Cape Verde. It was the sole legal party in the country from 1981 to 1990. Its members are nicknamed "" (the tamarinds) in Portuguese, and they identify themselves with the color yellow. The Movement for Democracy (, MpD) is a Christian democratic and liberal parties, liberal party in Cape Verde. Fogo Natural Park () is a protected area located on Fogo Island in Cape Verde, an archipelago nation in the central Atlantic Ocean. Established in 2003, the park encompasses an area of , representing 17.8% of the island's total landmass. It is geographically distributed across the municipalities of Santa Catarina do Fogo, Mosteiros, and São Filipe. Tinteira is a settlement in the eastern part of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. It is situated 4 km north of Cova Figueira, 5 km south of Relva and 22 km east of the island capital São Filipe.
